It's weird Carlin couldn't make it work in Indycar considering how they're pretty ubiquitous in almost every non-F1 open wheel championship around the world...

Hildebrand likely to fill in on the ovals in the #11.

Enerson is looking for another chance at the 500, but it is not likely to be with Top Gun.

---------------------

On a slightly different note, the rFactor 2 Indycar pack that released yesterday contains several 2022 liveries that haven't yet been formally launched. The biggest change is on Rossi's car, with both NAPA and Autonation sharing a single blue and pink livery instead of the alternation of the past seasons.

Someone really needs to tell the IndyCar PR folks how bad the Indy road course is. They could have gone to any track in the world and they still go there! Put them onto Mount Panorama ffs!

Pruett is convinced that Toyota are entering in 2024 under the GR banner.

It's because the track had just been released on rFactor 2

And a 4th on the way in 2026? :?

Even just rumours of potential 3rd and 4th manufacturers show the series is getting back to a much better place than any time in the past...I dunno, 30 years nearly.

Pruett on the 500 grid;

https://racer.com/2022/02/14/pruett-few ... 500-entry/

tl;dr
-The entry list will probably be shorter than last year's. The maximum number of entries will again be 36 (18 from each OEM), but a full house is not anticipated.
-Chevy are currently at 16, with 11 full-time entries supplemented by Montoya @ SPAM, Special Ed fielding a car for himself, Dreyer & Reinbold going back to 2 with Ferrucci alongside Karam and the return of Top Gun with an as-yet-unknown driver.
-Paretta wants to return, and she has both a driver and an engine lease, but last year's chassis has been returned to its owner (Juncos) and Penske does not have the manpower to spare now that the Porsche sportscar programme is being built up.
-Marotti Autosport are pursuing a tie-up with Foyt which would see them co-own one of the three full-time cars as opposed to an extra car.
-Top Gun's situation is complex - there is interest from various parties, but there is also an issue with chassis ownership as both of Top Gun's tubs are owned by the Enerson family, who have now split with the Throckmortons.
-Honda sit at 17 entries, with 15 full-timers joined by Marco (for his team) and TK (for Ganassi).
-This leaves one spare engine lease on their side, but the problem is that all 5 Honda teams have said that they are full, and none of the hopefuls (led by Stefan Wilson w\ Don Cusick) have the infrastructure to run a team by themselves.
-Vasser-Sullivan does have a tub of their own which might be the best route available, although there has been nothing to suggest that they are scrambling to file an entry.

Supply chain issues have pushed the new engine back another year.

https://racer.com/2022/03/03/indycars-h ... ntil-2024/

There is also enthusiasm for introducing any new chassis at the same time, as trying to shoehorn the new engine into the DW12 is going to create significant problems around weight.

I'm all for it. Bring both in '24. Or at the very, very, very least '25.
