so we're facing the indycar version of the Button contractual fight we witnessed back in mid 00's. Interesting

And most of what he says has been written and documented by MP. That is why I cannot like the guy. It's tabloid territory.

Zak fucked up.

Quote:
Brown never has seen Palou’s contract with Ganassi and has operated under the assumption that Palou is an impending free agent for next season.

I don't see both Zak and Alex being that willfully ignorant. "Didn't know" I'm not sure I buy, "didn't care" is a bit more believable.

The Contract Recognition Board would have a fun time if it was F1

You’re talking about the same Zak that didn’t put a get out clause on his side of his present F1 drivers contract, right?
Some people can be fantastic in their chosen field, but thick as two short planks in others.

Alex did take on new management at the start of the year. Roger Yasukawa is apparently no longer involved.

Pruett tries to piece Silly Season back together; https://racer.com/2022/07/22/pruett-ind ... july-2022/

tl;dr
-There is lots of interest from F2 drivers who want an opportunity that they won't get in Europe. And there is also a lot of interest from team owners who are underwhelmed by some of the possible options in Indy Lights. Top of the pile are Drugovich and Armstrong.
-One of the Lights drivers who should be moving up anyway will be Benjamin Pedersen, who has a deal with Foyt practically signed. Kellett is likely to stay as before, and whilst the #11 is now officially mothballed, Armstrong has arranged a test with the team for later in the year.
-Andretti is now firmed up, and as stated earlier SPAM will run O'Ward, Rossi and either Palou or Rosenqvist.
-Floyd will be sticking a new driver in the #10 regardless of whether he manages to retain Palou's services or not.
-Malukas is under contract at DCR, and the team have an option on Sato. The mooted 2nd HMD car is just about guaranteed, with Lundqvist still the most likely candidate, but any talented driver with a sack of folding will be considered if Lundqvist lands elsewhere.
-Daly also has a contract with ECR, but RVK's options have now expanded somewhat, and his future is very much TBD. If he does land the Ganassi seat (or even the technically-vacant SPAM ride), Special Ed will be looking at the same pool of prospects as Coyne and Foyt, and Pruett also raises the prospect of a loaded ex-ECR driver making a return, which sounds very much like Ed Jones.
-Whilst Ilott's name has cropped up as being on Floyd's shortlist, Juncos has apparently activated his option for 2023 (however solid that is), which leaves the question of the 2nd car - still likely, but as stated before the driver either needs to be exceptionally talented or rich.
-MSR want to keep Helio, and Helio wants to stay, but currently there is no contract for next year, and if it does fall through then Blomqvist could well be in line to shuffle over from the IMSA side. The team also retains an interest in Nyck de Vries, if he becomes available.
-As before, RLLR and Penske will remain as-is.

A possible cause that came to mind: What if Palous current contract had a clause that permitted him to leave if he got an F1 drive? And then what if he doesn't know wheater or not he now has an F1 drive?

I think it’s more simply that he’s signed a contract with another team while being under contract to Chip, if I worked under a fixed term contract and did the same to my boss he’d sue me too.

Another thing I wondered: Why can Chip sue him NOW? Until now Palou honored his contract and is driving for CGR. I would have thought the first chance to sue him would be the day where he fails to show up at work? Or is it regarding PR issues caused by the tweets?

Juncos has now signed Ilott to a brand-new long term contract.
