If Rosenqvist had pitted when the team suggested it before lapping Hinch, there's no yellow, he probably gets the undercut and wins the race

Cue Robin Miller furiously typing about why that race was like every race in the 70s/80s and we're all ungrateful varmits for wanting races with actual overtaking and action occasionally....

Well, it wasn't THAT bad. Rosenqvist and Rahal made some passes. I expected less from this race.

2nd half of the race was much better, although that's still not saying a lot

To be honest, I hate this race. Literally, I woke up at night to watch this race and Trucks, which I don't usually do now, just to see mostly single file procession and

(Truck race spoiler)
Spoiler:
my love, Buschy McBusch, winning truck race

I don't see anything good about this race. Most of the passes were just after caution, mostly because someone crashed thanks to that rubber. Passing lapped cars was terrible too. Dixon was loosing around .6s per lap behind lapped cars. Single file track with deadly outside line, thanks....

Is this track really that important to Indy world that it need to stay like this? If NASCAR will decide to "hey, let's add layer of ketchup on top of it, so Heinz can be our sponsor now too", Indy will race on that too? They have so many bread-shaped tracks like Texas that I don't see problem here... Jeez, I am very dissapointed after this night

To be fair, Power said on Pruetts Podcast that he thinks the second lane would be perfectly fine if Indycar would take an extra 20 minutes of practice to have the whole field rubber it in.

Texas is important because they will book an oval race. Few others will and we need some Super Speedways. If races could be run at Michigan and Pocono and fans actually showed up, they could tell Gossage to fuck off.

But they won't book there ether because it's a financial loser or wrongly deemed too dangerous.

The sad fact is at the moment, Indycar needs Texas.

Yes, IndyCars needs Texas and anything that could be considered as big oval. Michigan and Fontana are down and out and it can't really be IMS and a bunch of one-mile ovals (who have hit trouble for years anyway). It would also make little sense to have all the races on the East Cost and Mid-West save for Long Beach and Laguna Seca right at the end of the year. West Coast is a pariah in NASCAR so this is one place where IndyCars can flex some muscle instead.

Even though the reconfiguration itself was a big step backward for the track, the first couple IndyCar races were still decent before NASCAR decided to start using the PJ1.

I'm not saying that Indy doesn't need ovals/big ovals, but I am more questioning Texas as a track in calendar. Like it's for example horrible but it is Texas so needs to stay. I used to love Texas race, so my main problem now is that PJ1 stuff... As Chris said, I'm OK with reconfiguration, even if It went backwards.

Indycar needs Texas but Texas only cares about the needs of its lover NASCAR and does whatever it says or wants

Sadly for Indycar, they'll never have that kind of say at the track, I'm sure it's barely above a hire drive operation for them these days.

Gossage and NASCAR know that so they're conspiring to wreck Indycar's product :tumble: :whistling:

How many Indycar suitable ovals aren't pretty much owned by NASCAR?

It's a double edged sword

The ones that got banking changes in favour of NASCAR still exist

The flat 1milers where Indycar excelled (RIP Milwaukee :( ) got sold to housing developers

So I guess, Indy is about all that's left :(
