Damn, that sucks. Idk what else to say. Bob Jenkins recently, now him. I realize a lot of the pioneers of the sport and the CART days are getting up there in age, but its still hard to take. I suppose we should be thankful it's 2021 and we have the ability to go on youtube and look up most of their on camera work at any time that we want.

Murray Walker, Bob Jenkins, Robin Miller, 2021 has not been kind to the legends of open wheel racing either side of the pond.

Damn, it was faster than expected too, Miller said recently he thought he'd make it back to the speedway one more time and expected to see christmas with his Sister and her children where he moved to to see out his final days.
A shame it was only that that prevented him dying alone though, poor guy didn't have family of his own

I guess him not having a long, drawn out death, suffering more is a good thing but damn, it still hurts a lot.

Goodbye Robin, mine and many people's conduit to American Open Wheel Racing. You were unique, and you'll be missed.

There'll forever be a robin miller shaped hole in Indycar media imo.

RIP

Ugh, this is gutting :( :( :( :( I'm just super glad he got to see Indycar making massive gains and Roger Penske buying the series

Not unexpected, he did look gaunt at Indy two weeks ago but this still is hard to swallow. I remember years ago before Champ Car went belly up, reading his articles and now I realize how much I've learned from him about American open wheel racing, and maybe he is one of the reasons I've remained a fan of IndyCar. He was the voice of reason and common sense during those silly years. He was engaging, polarizing and unapologetic, and I admire that in person.

His Wednesday mailbag was the brake I needed in the middle of the week, and I was always looking forward to that. And whenever I saw an article pop up on Racer written by him, I'd take a few mins and ignore everything else in order to enjoy it.

I've had few, yes.

RIP Robin

Sad even if expected news. I was always a fan of Miller.

There has also been some continued Silly Season chatter over the past few days. Pruett wrote an article on Chilton (https://racer.com/2021/08/23/chilton-ev ... -for-2022/), which also states that Rahal and Harvey are both confirmed at RLLR, in the context of Chilton possibly seeking the 3rd seat at that team.

David Land also threw some chum in the water, adding weight to the idea of Pagenaud to Shank and Penske down to 3 cars, as well as the idea of Grosjean replacing RHR and Devlin deFrancesco replacing Hinch.
To this, he adds new rumours of Vasser\Sullivan wanting whoever wins the Indy Lights title (and their cheque for $1.3 million), whilst the Coyne\Ware half of the team is very interested in Alex Albon. There are also likely to be changes at ECR, and not even Veekay is safe. RLLR are considering Askew and Lundgaard first and foremost for their 3rd car, whilst Sato will move to Shank for a 500-only entry.

I read something about a 3rd RLL entry or even replacing Sato in the 2nd one.
