Looking at the points after Nashville, I noticed that Scott M is in 13th with 206 and Romain is in 16th with 166. So despite everyone thinking Scott was a default winner for the ROY, we might have a battle on our hands. Romain did really well at the indy road course last time and has now decided to race at Gateway, so a 40 point gap really isn't very much with 5 races to go.

Damn, 2021 is a bad year for legendary voices of open wheel championships :(

You see, the best people don't throw around their status of make others feel less important, they're just passionate fans who happen to be behind the microphone.
Bob had that factor in spades, such a likeable and knolwedgeable guy.
He will be Missed. :(

One very interesting Silly Season prediction; Pagenaud will move to Meyer-Shank and Sato will join them for the 500.

Yeah, I know he's mad and I don't care. I do not care. I did not care then. I do not care now. I'm here to race him.

To follow on from that, even moar Pruett with even moar Silly Season.

https://racer.com/2021/08/11/pruett-ind ... august-11/

tl;dr
-Pruett backs up Miller's prediction of Pagenaud to MSR. Shank is denying it, but he isn't likely to do anything different until an official unveiling.
-There is still no obvious replacement for Pagenaud if he does leave. Penske does have an eye on Kyle Kirkwood, but he does not sign rookies. Scaling back to 3 cars is a reasonable prospect.
-Grosjean has told DCR that he is open to staying, but it is likely a negotiation ploy.
-Marcus Armstrong was in the paddock last weekend and Alex Albon will be in the paddock this weekend - Juncos are in the market for a top-line driver...
-The frontrunner to share the #20 with Special Ed is now RHR.

Max Papis has tested positive for COVID-19 & will not take part in his race steward duties this weekend at Indianapolis. Papis said he was already fully vaccinated prior to the positive test. Papis was also preparing to race for Rick Ware in NASCAR this weekend

Man, I'm happy to see Robin, but honestly he looks gaunt and dying. I'm afraid it's just a matter of time.

Well, he actually did almost die a few weeks ago. That's actually him after recovering some weight and strength. Based on his heartbreaking letter from a week or so ago, he might make it to the end of the year. He plans on moving soon to Arizona to be with his family for his final time left. After losing Bob this week, just thinking about losing Robin is a hard pill to swallow. Very happy to see him at the track probably his final time.

I feel this is rather appropriate given today's winner.

Just to update this, Grosjean now has 206 and McLaughlin only got 7 points at the Indy GP, to bring his total to 213. Going to be a good battle here at the end of the year between them.

Also, side note on points, the 2021 season has, so far, had all 42 driver entries score points. It's the highest total since 2011, when 47 different drivers had points finishes. (49 drivers attempted races that year, with Scott Speed and Patrick Carpentier DNQ'ing for the 500 and obviously not obtaining points.)

Good job that didn't happen at the front of the pack!

On the subject of Kellett, does he bring money or something? I just looked at his career results and it's very average at best.

Is it possible for a driver to press the wrong pad and unjack the wheel like he did?
