This race was the total opposite to what I was expecting. I was expecting a wreck-fest with a close finish. It wasn't a wreck-fest and there wasn't a close finish.

It was kinda underwhelming.

I enjoyed it too, even though I spent half the race on my phone with my ladyfriend and lost interest in the race as a result. I really want to see IndyCar run a 500-miler again at MIS. I mentioned it on Twitter and people seemed to agree, so take that for whatever.

I think Dixon has already quit. Watching Daly's Twitch stream.

Yea looking at McLaughlin's twitch stream, he was saying he had suspension damage which wouldn't get fixed in the game, so I guess it would have been pointless him continuing

It was'n't a close finish but until like 3 laps to the end people had no idea who would win. That's enough for me. I liked it.

Kyle Busch is going to run the IndyCar iRacing event at Motegi this weekend. I'm a Kyle Busch hater, and even I think this is cool as hell. :flag:

They never fixed the oval after the earthquake did they? Don't they just store cars on it now.

I'm not sure what is damaged on the oval, maybe something structural underneath.

But I walked on it and it was completely fine.

I was hoping NTT would take actions to get Motegi back on the schedule, but nothing happened.

I guess Honda didn't bothered to fix as they use more the road course and the oval was only for CART/Indycars

Yeah especially after Takuma won the Indy 500 (still can't believe he did).

And NTT is the title sponsor.

They do use the oval though, it's not like it's just sitting there being used to store things.

Either that or problems on the buildings, needing to be rebuilt at a high cost.

Takuma Sato actually took some ceremonial laps at the Motegi oval the year of his win.

From that video, it does seem like that the oval is okay enough to drive on to some degree. But the earthquake made portions of the pavement quite bumpy, possibly too bumpy to safely run a high speed Indycar race (the backstretch looks pretty bad and Sato is always bottoming out on turn 3). So some sort of resurfacing might be necessary. On that, I can't tell from the video, of course, just how far down the damage goes -- maybe there's additional structural issues.

Either way, if the economics of an Indycar race would justify the repair, I'm sure a resurfacing job could be done. But I guess not even Sato winning the 500 was enough for that.

That is still one of the most awesome races I've ever seen. Like, the chances everyone was taking was just utterly insane. The fact Dixie got out of that wreck unscathed, the fact Alonso was so competitive, the fact the racing was so good, and the winner was Taku, that was legit a 10/10 race.

The track is built on posts and there is a couple damaged apparently, but not as bad as they originally thought in 2011

Honda doesn't want to spend the extra bucks to fix it, especially with how shaky the travel is to get a IndyCar + NASCAR dates
