That was a fucking disgrace.

The thing about Simon was, he was a dick because he got passed by Lando and wrecked himself, but he still wanted to take out the F1 guy

The thing about Ferruci is, I have no belief he wouldn't wreck someone coming to the line for the win in real life, Austin Dillon style

This race was broadcast on network television, everyone.

Jesus H Christ, forget this and go back to showing old races please :slaphead:

When it's broadcast and they have sponsors on the side of their cars, it's pretty embarrassing that a few of them act like this. I really hope they are repercussions from a sponsor saying fuck Ferruci, we're going to put our money elsewhere

Rest of the races have been relatively fine, I'd rather watch new racing than replays of races I know what happens

Honestly it was fine until Pag took Norris out and then it turned into this farce.

It's sad tbh, these guys have the opportunity to give people something to look forward to during a shitty time, more so than any other sport, and this is what they do. Makes them look stupid, makes Indycar look stupid, makes iRacing look stupid, because they can't bring themselves to take it seriously

Quite a few racing drivers looking like absolute melts once you take away the PR guys and they're left to their own devices :flag:

Oh yeah, and Ferrucci's sponsors know his past so they probably wouldn't ditch him for pulling this stunt in a real race.

iRacing doesn't have any kind of way to prevent reckless driving? or they don't seem to bother using for the sake of entertainment?

Ferrucci on the voice chat to Askew: "Dude, it's just a video game. Final lap, final stretch, it's for the fans!"

Lol.

Ferrucci had two options there, the first was to keep his foot it and give the fans an almost dead heat finish (and maybe even narrowly win?)

The second was to do what he did and give the fans a massive accident, lose the race and make himself look like a dick. Again.

He chose the second. Nice going, Santino.

He doesn't even need sponsors does he? He's the Lance Stroll of Indycar

Speaking of which, some money has certainly changed hands between Ferruci Snr and the broadcast team.
They legit have never mentioned what happened to him in Europe apart from "disagreement with his team saw him leaving under a cloud"
They big him up like he is the next Andretti and when he does something blatantly stupid, they cover for him too

Something seriously shady about this whole thing

You're absolutely right man, it's pretty disgusting and blatantly obvious to the great lengths they go to sweeping his past under the carpet and talking him up like the next big IndyCar rookie.

In hindsight, maybe not? But gotta admit, I invested some real emotion in this, and it was great fun (until you saw the replays or found out about the details).

Can we agree on that the last quarter lap didn't happen and that Ericsson won this? :whistling:

Pags and Santino will likely get slapped on the hand at the very least by Nim (see: Scott Speed incident)

I get the frustration that Pags had (most of the field was bitching about Lando's ping all race), but it was a really stupid move

in terms of Santino, the replay speaks for itself. Honestly expected him to pull that type of move last year in real life honestly. His reaction in his stream post race & overall what he's said on voice chat says it all.

overall as a fan: I don't fully mind McLaren self destructing on the final laps, only Wickens & Lando has run relativity clean & had a level head - while Askew took out cars while being a lapper (Motegi) & most of the IndyCar field has bitched about both Askew & Pato between the IndyCar races + other hosted functions.

He's a loud, aggressive, racist, doesn't give a fuck, just look at who's running the country at the moment (of whom he supports), of course they want him to be the next big thing.

I was fascinated to see his results though, in 3 years over GP3 and F2 he scored a solitary podium. He flat out sucks man.

He's the new Tracy. Loud, obnoxious, controversial and (sadly) a good driver. The TV's eat that up.

However, considering that he's a wimp, I'm hoping he will try to fight somebody in a race and get whacked so hard on his face, his kids are born dizzy.

Marcus Ericsson is the real winner here. He raced like he would in real life, and that's the standard we should hold these guys to.

Lando did very well, but still, you don't go three wide in the chute, and that's what caused Simon to wipeout (he's still fucking stupid for staying in the leaders' way like a rookie, that's a fact).

Chilton gets it. They're representing these people and should act accordingly.

And  at them not being surprised by Ferrucci...

The other thing that's really bugging me about this, is that sim racing is the closest 99% of fans will ever get to going motor racing, and for these guys to treat it as a big joke kind of shits all over that. Total lack of awareness of what a privileged position they're in. Can't they at least pretend to take it seriously for an hour?

I know it's not real but something about this really stinks anyway, and it seems the majority of fans feel the same way

I follow Jimmy Broadbent's stuff and he got pretty frustrated at how the F1 guys were not even attempting to take it seriously in their races (although the fact that F1 2019 is a lousy game doesn't help) and that in some cases, the sim racing community doesn't get to take part in the races with the real drivers (such as Indycar and NASCAR).

I think that if the teams/sponsors start warning the drivers about their behaviours or attitudes, things would improve.

I get the point of professional drivers not wanting to be in the same field of sim drivers. You have an established reputation as an accomplished driver and then you get easily beaten by a guy called Daniel Bereznay whom your fans never heard of before. It might make a dent on your reputation and a bigger one in your ego.

And I think it's okay not to take it totally seriously. It's a way of hiding a bit to the fact you're gonna be beaten by a nerd or by a driver with a lower reputation than yours. If you take it too seriously, you end up being like Max Verstappen who is not joining races because he doesn't want to look hopeless in front of an audience because he is new to the game. But there are ways and ways of driving it for fun - Lando messed up on his qualis in the F1 2019 races and then went on racing clean and that looks okay. But screwing the races of other drivers is very stupid and we don't need to watch this shit shows, definitely.

Marcus' pass for the lead was a thing of beauty.

The thing I can see happening if sponsors get more involved is drivers simply not being allowed to do cross over events, so it's a shame about the dick headish behavior but some that could end up ruining this awesome period of cross overs we are experiencing

But yea, I already knew old 2-minute noodle hair was a dickhead, this just reinforces it. But I'm most disappointed with Simon, I don't expect that sort of thing from a Penske driver regardless if it's off the track
