After a 8 month delay due to the pandemic, IndyCar returns to St. Petersburg for a second time in 2020 to finish off what they attempted to start - that being the Firestone Grand Prix of St. Petersburg. The race was originally scheduled for mid-March, and was canceled as some of the Road to Indy series were finishing their first practice sessions to the uncertain future with the COVID-19 pandemic out of precaution. While case numbers continue to spike across the globe, a limited number of spectators are allowed into this weekend's race at St. Petersburg.
This will be the first time at St. Petersburg has held a championship finale for the NTT IndyCar Series, but it's not their first time hosting a championship finale as Trans-Am finished off their season finale on some of the same streets from 1985 to 1990.
Supporting the second edition of the 2020 Firestone Grand Prix of St. Petersburg includes the Indy Pro 2000 Championship, Cooper Tires USF2000 Championship, IMSA Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge USA & Global MX-5 Cup. Indy Lights & a variety of SRO America series was on the original St. Pete schedule, but those either featured the entire series being canned for 2020 - such as Indy Lights (or) run at other venues - such as SRO America.

The entire USA is WAY behind on testing, but the numbers are not Italy bad at least. As long as no one within the paddock now start showing symptoms, we don't need fearmongering.
