New sponsor, which is nice.

Wow, I'm not at all surprised that he's gone from the team, but I am shocked that he was dumped mid season, especially considering the sponsorship he has behind him. Unless he turns up at Foyt, Coyne or Carlin with all that sponsor money I highly doubt he'll be back on the grid at all next season.

Rumours of Herta in the #26 (to continue with Gainbridge next year) and Hinch in the #88 (presumably with Genesys added to the portfolio of sponsorship there).

If he knew he's out of the running for 2021 then it makes sense though. I had the impression Gainbridge is his personal sponsor so it would be quite a switch if they stay at Andretti leaving Veach in the dust. Hinch finishing out the year makes obvious sense now and I wonder if Sergio Perez is suddenly in the running for that seat if he can't find a spot in F1 (Haas?).

Obviously the move is warranted, Carlos Munoz had seven podiums in three years with AA, Veach had like three Top 5s.

To be fair, he does own that team/car, so if he wants to keep losing money finishing 22nd out of 21 starting cars, then let him fill up the field lmao.

I thought Gainbridge was his personal sponsor too, I was kinda surprised the press release still called it the "No.26 Gainbridge Honda". Had to look the info up, but it looks like he was signed to Andretti Autosport for the F2000 season in 2010.....not too long after he turned 15. So maybe it was partially out of loyalty to even keep him this long.

Of course it helps being the owner. It's just like Tracy Krohn. You can't really sack yourself :whistling:

It didn't take long to figure out Colton Herta was the superior talent. Hunter-Reay is 40yo and it was a matter of time before Rossi & Herta becomes the prime AA duo. Marco's been kicked to the #98 which is basically the last car on the depth chart but it's obvious why.

As for Gainbridge, maybe there were convinced Herta offers them a lot more publicity. It's been the last two-three years when the NBC crew began mentioning the sponsor names a lot during the TV broadcast. I mean they hardly even mention the team names but they mention the sponsors even when a car comes in for the stop.

I wonder if sponsors pay some extra for the exposure. They used to pay for the onboard camera, hence Stake n Shake on Rahal's car was there for like two ot three seasons and Veach carried the onboard cam a lot too, maybe even at every single race but I can't tell for sure. I suppose that policy is still in place. I read somewhere that the series itself has only two standard onboards and one of those always goes on the Verizon entry but anyone can pay extra to feature a camera on the car they sponsor.

Veach did bring Group1001\Gainbridge into the series but they quite quickly moved into doing their own business - they did a deal with the series to be the presenting sponsor at the Indy 500. Whatever personal relationship they had was diluted at that point.

If Veach wants to stick around then he'll have to dive into his pastor's Rolodex again.

Good to see Veach gone as he was there only because of sponsorship. Seems like a nice guy but shouldn't be racing...

Do you remember when Marco got pole for the Indy 500 and everyone was predicting he was going to have a career rennaisance?

That was a fun week.... :whistling:

First time since That Race In Fontana that Helio will be driving in AOWR for a team that isn't Penske
