Changes for the 500 for this year; https://www.indycar.com/News/2020/02/02 ... s-for-2020

tl:dr

-An extra $2 million in the prize fund.
-The Last Row Shootout will change into a 75-minute session with multiple attempts per car.
-The turbo will be cranked for an extra 45 bhp for qualifying.
-More of the qualifying weekend will be shown on TV.

Anyone know when the open test at RIR is scheduled? I posted the question on their FB but never got an answer.

Trying to figure that out as well

also as a local to RIR, I got a question - what would you recommend for seating? I've been split between the top row of Commonwealth, or the "Front Porch" which is in the Mezzaine? After adding parking & the pit passes it's only like $11 bucks different (for 3 tix total)
Sorry I took this long to get back to you, crazy work week.

I am a local but I haven't been compelled to go to a race since the IRL was there in the early 2000s (I think 03 was the year I went) but I did attend an open test the last year they were there.

All of that was just a drawn out way to say I have no idea either where the best seats are. They did put the new front stretch towering stands in, a la Daytona Rising, so I think a nosebleed seat on the front stretch would give a clear view of the whole thing. I want to check it out on test day, cuz I've got my wife on board with going to the race in June.

Hopefully Honda can put him in an extra car for Toronto, too.

According to Miller, Honda didn't veto Alonso's Andretti drive. And now he's off to SPAM

No Toronto at all because most of Hinch's crew will be busy with their full-time jobs (Indy Lights), but other races are possible.

---------------

Very odd stuff with Alonso. Maybe he was told that he would be getting the scraps of the operation and said no.

In totally random news, Willy T Ribbs called out a hater on FB after criticizing his recent documentary "Uppity":

Wish he had more years in CART but I doubt the results would have been any different. He was always in subpar machinery, even at Walker.

lol good ol' Willy was always a hothead. He sure had/has spirit.

Not shown in the video but Pruett and Ribbs had a fistfight after their collision. Ribbs was totally at fault too... :whistling:

Pruett (the journalist not the driver) believes that the 4th Penske will be hauled out of storage to give McLaughlin a total of 8 races this year. McLaughlin has already told Dick Johnson that he will not be continuing with his Supercars team beyond this season.

Of the races that don't clash with the V8 calendar:
Long Beach
IMS Road Course (already confirmed)
Detroit 1
Detroit 2
Road America
Toronto
Mid-Ohio
Gateway
Portland
