Yeah, I know he's mad and I don't care. I do not care. I did not care then. I do not care now. I'm here to race him.

It's not terrible. I don't want to complain too much about a calendar that has Road America, Mid Ohio, Portland, Laguna, Toronto and Indy. But another two ovals (One short and one long - Iowa and Fontana), would have been a bonus. The Nashville street course looks interesting anyway.

IndyCar decided to run up against LeMans? while that is great news in terms of giving everyone a break after Indy (they needed the week after the 500 to be off for a while given the GP & the amount of testing that May normally sees) - that might hurt a few drivers who generally depend on running sporty cars alongside their open wheel schedule

the calendar is looking good, the problem is why they keep being the little bitch of other sports to end it so soon?

Too few ovals and too much Indy road course for my taste.

The rumors are that NASCAR, who owns Iowa, wants to sell the track due to it being a loss-maker overall, and that's probably why Iowa is gone.

NASCAR is also possibly looking at converting Fontana into a 1/2 mile banked oval. If that happens, Indycar won't be back there ever again, I imagine.

I imagine 2021 is a survival year anyways, so you have to take what you can get.

It's been a strange day, so here's some more - Formula One Management has bought a minority stake in Meyer-Shank.

So Will Power is having a circuit named after him

Quote:
Plans for a new $175 millions circuit in Will Power's home town of Toowoomba, Queensland, have been formally unveiled.
The Wagner Corporation is behind the Wellcamp Entertainment Precinct project, which, if built, will include a world-class race track, driver training facilities and a 40,000 capacity performing arts centre.
The proposed name is the Will Power Centre for Motorsport and Driver Training Excellence, a nod to the Indy 500 winner who grew up in the regional Queensland city.

That V8 circuit looks a little bit like a short Oran Park course

Miller shits on CrackForum.

Both Kentucky and Chicagoland are near the top of the list if all the pieces were to come together.

Cool, I miss some of those IRL tracks.

TBH, for oval races to make sense for people to show up, they need to be worth it.

1 IndyCar race + 1 Indy Lights race (with 6-8 cars), won't be worthy for many fans. There need to be a kickass 2-day weekend with Open Wheel and Stock Car action all freaking day.

Would I drive 3-4 hours to get to a racetrack, for just a few sessions? Maybe, probably not after a couple of races.

Would I drive 3-4 hours for a 2-day weekend with IndyCar, Indy Lights, NASCAR Trucks and ARCA (or Xfinity), plus a concert or a dirt track event at the nearest track, that you can go with your main event ticket? Hell yeah I would.

NASCAR and IndyCar working together can save oval events. On their own, I don't think so...

Exactly this, and the tracks with either dates on the Cup schedule (or owned by NASCAR outright) have been missing the bill on this for at least a decade if not more. Not only with IndyCar, but for their NASCAR weekends as well.

I think only 3 or 4 tracks on the Cup schedule even had a support race (pre-COVID planned) on the same day as a Cup or Xfinity race over the past couple of years (Bristol (ARCA), Loudon (Mods), Texas (SST) and now Indy Road Course on Brickyard weekend).

Even the other road courses, where having a suitable layout isn't a problem has 0 support races on a race day. First year of Charlotte's ROVAL weekend had bull fighting in the parking lot as the "pre-race entertainment". Sonoma might of had the local Carrera Cup-ish regional series a couple years back, and Watkins hasn't had a damn thing on race day for both Cup & Xfinity (with ARCA shelved to Friday evening).

Pruett reported on his podcast that Veach was fired, with a photo that he posted of himself climbing a rock wall being used as proof of breach of contract.

Uhhhh, well, since a video of Veach and Dalton Kellett rock climbing together was an official "NTT Indycar Series" video, back in Sept of 2018, I highly doubt rock climbing came as a surprise to sponsors or changed the position of anyone in the sport at all..... :slaphead:

Maybe the issue is that he was supposed to get permission before doing 'extreme' sports, whether it's rockclimbing, dirt bike racing or playing tennis. Assumedly he had permission for the Indycar promo piece.

I don't think Pruett was suggesting that he was fired just because he went rockclimbing, but that Andretti were looking for a reason and Veach gave them one.
