Besides the TV fiasco, this has been pretty good

Marco just passed him and put him down to 6th, so nope.

As a race it was pretty good, as a title decider it was a damp squib.

Well done Dixon.

at least it was a regular Sonoma snoozefest so no regrets of not having for next year

and Dixon is really phenomenal, winning this for 15 years and is not 40 already

That was a good race by Sonoma standards.

I'm very happy for Dixon. Well deserved 5th! Strong finish for Marco too.

I doubt the TV conveyed it (hey does anybody seriously think NBC broadcasting Indycar & NASCAR is going to be good for Indycar?), but that swap was asked for and Rossi said ok to it, the plan was that Marco would try and catch Dixon then harass him to the point where Rossi could catch up and make a good fight of it, and they would swap back if that happened.

But it didn't, and as far as I know the TV never conveyed what was going on, you only knew if you were watching Rossi's incar camera.

Last night proved that NASCAR has priority on NBC (How many gazillions have they paid for it?), so Indycar better adjust their schedules next year so that their start times are way after or before the NASCAR race starts/ends, and learn from it too, yesterday they assumed the last restart was it and gave the command to start engines (after delaying the start for quiet a while), then NASCAR imploded and red flagged it, next time they should wait until the winner is parked in victory lane before giving the command, and Indycar fans better get used to being dumped to CNN or not even seeing their race at all live because NASCAR America gets better viewership figures than Indycar does.

Actually a pretty decent race in the end, Rossi drove superbly in that overtaking stint! And super stoked for Scott, definitely a proud Kiwi right now

Eh, as annoying as the NASCAR WrexFest / Unnecessarily Long Red Flag Overtime spilling over into Indycar coverage was, it was better coverage than ABC would've provided. :p

Double-edged sword. Races that immediately follow a NASCAR race get better TV ratings since some people keep on watching after the NASCAR race is over. However, scheduling it right afterward lends to these kinds of problems when the NASCAR race goes long. And since NASCAR has turned into WWE on wheels with endless crashes and overtime finishes, the races do tend to run long...

Anyway, probably the best Sonoma race yet, nice job 2018 aero kit yet again. That being said, it was still one of the worst races of the season. (And even then, it wasn't that bad, this year had some of the best racing on road and street tracks ever) Can't say I'll miss this track next year. Laguna will probably be fairly boring too, but at least it's got the nostalgia thing, and a couple cool turns in addition to the Corkscrew.
