Well Hinch had around 9 secs on in front so I doubt the finish would have been breathtaking anyway. But still, great race, old school feel to it like movingunit mentioned, and great winner. Toronto's gonna be nuts!

The red flag doesn't happen everytime there is a Yellow in the 5 last laps?

that was a damn good race. Really don't understand the complaints about tracks with progressive banking after races like that (of course this is a track that was designed for it, not like most reconfiguration projects)

I think it's the shortness of the track that works more in its favour, some of the race was strung out but the fact they hit it so quick helped pack it back up again as the leader couldn't get by immediately

Either way, it works, and it'll probably be even better next year under the lights...

Tweet by one of the series director on the caution that ended the race.

Final on-track passing numbers up +577 over last year, and confirmed the race would return in 2019 (most likely as a Saturday night race according to NBCSN / Robin Miller).

Ganassi ended up making a major snap-fu by putting the LF tire on the right front on Dixon's car.

I remain perplexed at how no-one else has asked Rusty to help design their track. It is by far the best thing he has done since retiring as a driver.

Yeah, I know he's mad and I don't care. I do not care. I did not care then. I do not care now. I'm here to race him.

I believe Rusty was involved with the design portion of the failed Riverside Motorsports Park project.

Still a shame with alot of the large scale track proposals never being built, especially with ISC's antics of shutting down a couple tracks / selling them with non-compete clauses for proposed venues that were never built (cough Pikes Peak cough)

Between that and NASCAR's testing ban, it really hurts the bigger sized oval tracks that are without big series races unless they had other areas or layouts to host events at (dragstrips, road courses, short tracks, areas for autocross / drifting / concerts etc.). One of the main things besides location that hurt Rockingham's chances of staying open.

Rusty based the track on Richmond where he won a bunch of times. It is the only track where progressive banking works.

He never won on a plate track, so he wasn't gonna make one of those was he
