I dunno. More banking might make it a little easier follow and overtake if you truly have better pace. Track's gonna be really hot though. Weather looks brutal this weekend, and even though it's a night race it'll start in the evening when the track will probably still be scorching from a full day's sunshine.

No no, it's going to be a terrible race.

I'm setting my expectations low... ;)

If I was the Indycar CEO, or whatever you'll call it, I would test a No-Wings aero-pack.

But still very curious as to how the racing is going to be with this one. Specially after last year shitshow.

While in general there was less passing expected, the high temperatures were a big curveball at Indy. If there was cooler temps during the 500, I think we would have saw more slingshot passing.

Also remember that Texas has a different aero package compared to Indianapolis & Pocono. Max rear wing angle setting is -6.0 degrees, sidewalls on the diffusers aren't allowed & a reverse wicker on the diffuser is mandated as well. I'd expect the race to be similar to how 2012-2014 was, given the high temperatures being forecast (100 degrees fahrenheit last I heard) and the added reverse wicker (which wasn't on the cars in recent years). Of course, this also depends on how the tires react to the track this year (hopefully the blistering issue was solved)

We will only be able to make broad, general comparisons of the racing between Texas and Indy for all of the reasons racer612008 mentioned.

A more direct comparison to Indy will be Pocono. If we get ambient temps in the mid 70's in August then I think we'll see something closer to what we expected at Indy.

More rear wing angle has been allowed (max is now -3.oo degrees) due to high temperatures being forecast.

But at the same time they reduce the downforce by removing the diffusor side plates. Weird.

those were already not allowed however, just a small adjustment for the temperatures (i.e. same situation as Fontana 2015)

Newgarden on pole. Looks like some teams are dealing with blistering during the later portions of the second practice.

hope this is a good and safe race, and that we don't have some of the problems that happened last year
