Word around the paddock is that a "prominent" IndyCar team held un-official talks with a manufacturer about entering IndyCar. This manufacturer has apparently never gone open wheel (not sure of that means just Indy or what) but seems not to keen on the idea of having the same look as Honda or Chevy. Since body kits have been sorta forgotten it may have temporarily stalled any discussion. All of this from Long Beach.

From what I read the new BIG GUY that is CEO of all CEO's wants aero kits from next year and more HP. And he doesn't like to hear "NO" as an answer.

FIAT / Chrysler is the usual suspect, and considering the Vipers where in town that day it could make sense.

Jaques Lazier closes on Indy 500 return

Also, I found this:

Quote:
One of the most compelling stories this May could be the return of 1996 Indianapolis 500 winner Buddy Lazier to the Brickyard.

Lazier last competed in the 500 in 2008, after a dramatic "Bump Day" run put him in the field of 33.

Now, our spy cameras have found his name on the Dallara that Jean Alesi drove in last year's Indianapolis 500. That car is currently sitting in the Dallara factory on Main Street in Speedway, Indiana getting a few modifications.

A deal is currently being worked on to put Lazier in that car for this year's 500, with an engine deal in the works according to one key team principle.

Lazier was a popular winner at the 500 in 1996 with Ron Hemelgarn's team. He has 5 top-5 finishes in the "500", including two second-place runs in 1998 and 2000.

Yeah and the whole sciatica talk was a rouse during Long Beach........I hear AJ Foyt had a stomach stapling and liposuction done this week so he can fit in a car again and be ready for the 500.

Has it been called out on the forum that who should open the Indy500 thread? If not and if You dont mind, I'd like to do it this time, I've kinda already started the preparations for it...

Yeah, I'm a bit hyped about it once again.

The two Laziers are (good) field fieller. Not more. They can qualify the cars with solid runs and parked the cars after a couple of laps. With this two guys we have 32.

Yeah Vitolo was laughable. His crowning moment was of course the 1994 Indy 500.

Even Hiro Matsushita (Matsu-shta) was much better.
