I would tend to agree with that. I just do not believe COTA will draw any sort of crowd.

Floyd won't be running any extra cars next year, which puts Jones on the market.

Is Jones leaving Ganassi? He's had flashes of good form but for a team like Ganassi he's not delivering I feel. It's crazy to think the last time Scott had a decent team mate was 2013 with Franchitti

Most likely. Ganassi may as well be a one car team.

Robin Miller has been going on about Ganassi wanting Felix Rosenqvist for a couple of years now. I hope that finally becomes true.

agreed, the guy deserves a good seat in a top series

Miller said that Rosenqvist was a done deal at Mid-Ohio, which would leave no room for Jones.

Part of the reason that Toyota drifted away from the GP of Long Beach was that their US base moved from the area. You get three guesses to where it moved to.

I'll take San Antonio for $1000.

Right state, wrong city.

This is true, the actual HQ is in Plano (maybe they could sponsor the TMS race as well), but there is a large factory in San Antonio. The overarching point is that Texas has become Toyota's US base and if they are going to sponsor a different race then a new San Antonio race would be a good shout.

Rencken is the first to put pen to paper on the Rosenqvist story.

Quote:
Formula E driver Felix Rosenqvist has signed to drive for front-running IndyCar team Ganassi in 2019, RaceFans has learned.

Ganassi tested Rosenqvist in 2016 and 2017, and described his last outing for them as “flawless”. However the team cut its entry from four cars last year to two for this season, leaving no room for the 22-year-old in their line-up at the time.

Four-time IndyCar champion and current points leader Scott Dixon signed a new multi-year deal with the team earlier this season. Ganassi does not intend to expand beyond two cars next year, meaning Ed Jones is set to lose his drive to Rosenqvist at the end of his first season at the team.

Haven't seen any reasonable commenting anywhere about IndyCar after Wickens crash. Other than from the professionals that know what this sports is about.

I have a family friend who used to race rallycross on European Championship level with Group B cars. While that was batshit insane sports (and his stories that underlined it without exaggerating), he said that if some race drivers are crazier, it's the MotoGP riders and IndyCar drivers because those guys don't ever have small crashes, they always break bones, but try everything to fight their way back to the starting grid next week. This from a guy who went through a concrete wall with stuck throttle and got front wheel smashing the pedals all the way through the central tunnel and got his car fixed for the next day.

also kinda like BMX racers. They break every bone, are in a coma and recover and do it all over again. And the first question they ask is when they can ride their bikes again. And thats modern day.

They shouldnt drive deathtraps but Indycar are doing all they can and they actually accept racing is dangerous and everyone involved knows from the fans to the drivers to the people in charge to the sponsors.
Unlike F1 where some (old) drivers think it should be 110% safe.

“It would become one of our crown-jewel events,” he told the American-Statesman.

Yeah sure.

If they thought Mid-Ohio was a snoozer in years past, they don't know what's coming with CoTA

At the very least they need to make a separate layout for series outside of F1 & MotoGP, that track was terrible for just about everything in dry conditions.
