Standing start is better in this weather anyway, because of the lower speeds. All the evidence you need is Surfers Paradise 02

This.

However, it only helps up to turn 1. All the evidence you need is Spa 98 :p

Touche!

And this sucks. Must be wetter than Houston.

Oh God I feel like a 5-years old that had ice cream dangling in front of their eyes for 10mins before it was simply thrown in the trash.

FFFFUUUUUUUU

To be fair the visibility looked pretty awful. F1 wouldn't even be out the garage with this amount of rain.

They probably never had any intention of starting, just wanted to keep the ratings up for a bit longer.

I suppose they weren't sure until they were actually out there.

Well it's good for the drivers to have a feel for the track.

Also, I understand the main concern is visibility rather than grip, and that can only be evaluated by letting cars on the track.

I'm afraid that unless they want to start it now, it will never start. This weather won't change.

How about a single-file start under safety car, no passing lap one?

ANYTHING but drivers under umbrellas
