Qualifying has been moved up an hour as it will almost certainly be raining by 5:50pm.

Daly unhappy with Ferrucci slowing up and interrupting his run. He didn't even have his spotter out there. Surely Ferrucci shouldn't have been on track in that case?

Odd. But I wonder, is it written in the rules (in Indycar and Nascar) that you MUST have a spotter? Or is it seen as a "luxury" by the rulebook? Surely it must be a safety standard?

DeFrancesco has a career in broadcasting waiting for him with that accent. A perfect blend of Canadian and Joe Pesci.

From what I've found it's surely a must, so if they didn't then they should be in a lot of trouble.

Quote:
4.2.5. Spotters - At all Oval Races and Oval Tests,
whenever more than one Car is on Track, a spotter
is required for each Entry. INDYCAR may also
require spotters at other Events. A spotter must be
in the designated location(s) and have a radio
capable of communicating with the Driver and an
individual in the Entrant’s pit. Track specific spotter
requirements will be confirmed by INDYCAR.

Impressive run from Johnson. Got out there for the first time after hitting the wall and put down a solid, consistent full sim.

Big drop off over four laps though

Post subject:  Re: 106th Indianapolis 500

Sato did 232.6 the very next lap after his 232.7, but then the tire falloff hit, and things got SKETCHY those last two laps. 8 mph dropoff and he looked like he was going to wreck every single corner.

That was stupid. Going when there was a cart ahead of him and driving over equipment that sent it at a team member.
