Never happening again.

Well honestly that is a travesty.

Portland would be nice, as would Vancouver which is where I live. I don't see either of them happening anytime soon though. Portland would probably be more likely.

IndyCar is missing out on a huge market in the PNW though...

Maybe a street race in Seattle is what will happen.

Would love for Portland to return to the IndyCar schedule. The track hasn't hosted a major race since 2007 and was part of CART's 2008 schedule before the merger wiped the race off the slate.

Hell of a lot easier to drive to Portland from Missoula than it is to say, Sears Point.

Well the crowd at the last few CART events were sparse weren't they?

When the only thing in that area of the country is the Green Bay Packers and Road America, you'd expect them to come in droves, especially after 9 long years.

A possible return to Surfer's Paradise?
Quote:
OPEN-wheeler IndyCars may once again be racing around the streets of Surfers Paradise — maybe as soon as next year — if secret government talks are successful.

A private consortium is negotiating with Tourism and Events Queensland to bring the US version of Formula 1 back to the Gold Coast streets during an annual weeklong motorsports extravaganza.

This “back to the future” move was revealed yesterday as Supercars announced their cars will be on the streets of Surfers Paradise until 2019 under a deal brokered with the Queensland Government.

The Bulletin has seen documents giving a Coast-based consortium the right to negotiate for an IndyCar race in Australia.

They didn't go to RA because Andretti was promoting Milwaukee and had a "No race at elkhart lake" clause in his contract as promotor of the Milwaukee mile

It really sucks that we had to lose the Mile before we could get back to RA but the rot set in with Milwaukee when they moved it away from being the first race after Indy AS IS TRADITION so to not have Road America around because of the ten thousand people or so that were going to the mile wasn't the smartest choice.

Who knows how many of those people who came this weekend were new to RA/Indycar and would've been open to seeing the cars again down the road at Milwaukee if it had been later on in the year or even a RA/Milwaukee back to back one weekend after the other.

So, the 2017 schedule it´s pretty much set, with one track apparently without a done deal yet (Pocono probably)

In terms of new dates, it seems Surfer's, Portland and Gateway are hardly working on deals for the near future (maybe 2018?)

February to October, please.

I think Pocono will depend on how the crowd is, just like the last couple of years.

I see Gateway being the next addition, with Carpenter doing testing there already and such. Was close for this season as well

Agreed. Pocono coming back will depend greatly on the crowd this year.

Buy tickets damnit!

EDIT: My wife might be able to get free tickets through ABC Supply. She just called me saying they were offered and I told her to take them. I have our tickets already from the past 3 years so I don't need them but I told her to get them and I will pass them along to anyone on the board who wants to go. Once I have more info I will post up how many, where (assume G/A) and any other info. Basically, you'd get to go to the race for free. Just meet at the gate out front to get the tix. First come first serve so either post up or PM me.

EDIT 2: If it's not clear, this is for the ABC Supply Pocono 500 on August 21st.

:(

It's been almost 8 years since that picture was taken and almost 5 years since we've last seen this team race.

RIP Carl.

One of the good, loyal guys. So few of those left these days.

Race in Peace
