Because laps are measured in speed and not time.

I agree that the 'TV' coverage is not as good as what there was on Gold yesterday.

I mean that the speed would be obviosly shown after each lap like now, but the average speed of the lap can't be shown as a running time when the lap is still on progress, lap time in seconds can be.

It can be shown, but as no-one in the US measures oval speed by laptime, it wouldn't be of any use.

Yeah, I know he's mad and I don't care. I do not care. I did not care then. I do not care now. I'm here to race him.

Literally no idea of what's going on if you're not paying attention.

That's why I asked why is the concept so hard to understand, not referring to just NBCSN but the audience too.

They will probably skip it. As they were able to get all the qualifying in today, the session tomorrow will be full-length.

It is a shame that the Fast 9 weren't given a practice to tune their cars but there is no chance they would have made it fit before the thunderstorms.

Closest qualifying field in the history of the race, apparently.

The best thing Zak Brown could do, if he really wants to make this work, is to enter every race for the rest of this season as a precursor to the whole season next year. Give the engineers as much time as possible to understand each other and the equipment that they have got, because right now it is painfully obvious that they don't have the first fucking clue.

If Alonso does not want to do the rest of the season, I am sure that there would be a queue of talented drivers who would kill to have a seat that they don't have to pay for.

Take this morning for instance. They bought Andretti's shocks and Penske's setup and they didn't even try to calibrate them to each other before they sent Alonso out, and as a result the car did its best to gouge a running groove in the track. That's basic stuff that they can't get right at the first time of asking, and they have to fix that.

Mclaren have made it clear they don't want to start a new team, merely buy out an existing team, so that's not happening

Also fuck em, if they're not adding 2 cars to the field my sympathies to them go out the window.

Who are they going to buy out? Carlin? The same Carlin that just filled out the entirety of row 12? That won't fix anything.

Since McLaren isn't a full time team, if I were them, I'd rent the track for a full couple of weeks. Pay a bunch of testing drivers and figure that thing out, once and for all.
