BTW forget anything I said about how "easy" it seemed, I feel stupid now. Indy is serious business.

That ended up being exactly where Seb hit too

It was supposed to be a warning, not target practice

Yeah, he was definitely conscious and alert when they reached him. Definitely hurt though :(

If nothing else, this crash demonstrates how far racing comes in terms of safety because if this was 20 years ago, I don't think Bourdais would be moving around after that crash.

Forget 20 years. If that was the IR05 they would be peeling him off the SAFER right now.

Yeah, I know he's mad and I don't care. I do not care. I did not care then. I do not care now. I'm here to race him.

Adrenaline is a powerful thing. We've all heard stories of drivers who ended up being hurt trying to get out of their cars by themselves as the adrenaline is pumping

Look at Blundell in Rio 96 for one Example.

Lets hope this isn't the situation today, I only say this as a warning against assuming anything one way or the other.

I guess this is going to take a bit of time to get the track back in business?

That was absolutely brutal to watch live and then replayed. Hoping for the best for Bourdais.

True that. MSC tried to climb out of his Ferrari with a broken leg. Let's hope he is out of the med center soon.

SAFER did a great job today, if it was the plain concrete the impact would be massive

The track safety team also did a great job in getting to Bourdais very quickly. Great to see that kind of response time.

Watched the live footage again. I don't think I've ever heard Allen Bestwick shout like that before.

Update from Indy Car.

[tweet]https://twitter.com/IndyCar/status/866049186688585728[/tweet]

That is a good sign that he's not being airlifted to the hospital. Christopher DeHarde is there as a reporter and is reporting that Bourdais never lost consciousness.

How come they only have 1 angle of this crash? Shouldn't all cameras be on the car doing it's run?
