Not sure why there'd sudden bitching, lightning is a fairly common reason to stop races and the yellow was probably just a "let's calm down so we can assess if this is temporary or we need to get people out of granstands" measure to which they realised they then needed to go red.


Indycar makes a lot of lousy calls but today wasn't one of them....

My point was more around the fact that there were still officials and team personnel in positions of risk. When there's lightening you find shelter in an appropriate place. Standing next to a wire fence, grandstand or other type of conductor is not so safe.

Never mentioned yellows in either posts you quoted :o , but to answer anyway, I think the reason for the yellow initally was to just see if it would get worse, throwing a red flag for one flash of lightening would be a bit extreme, but when it became apparent it wasn't going to stop they threw the red so I have absolutely no issue with the procedures they followed
