RLLR now has the money for 3 cars.

Assuming that all of this year's 24 return (not guaranteed, especially at Penske), that would make 27 full-timers.

Good job that didn't happen at the front of the pack!

On the subject of Kellett, does he bring money or something? I just looked at his career results and it's very average at best.

During the interview that Robin Miller did with Foyt a year or so ago, Foyt said (I can't remember exact wording but similar to this) about how times have changed since his days in indycar and that some of these kids bring so much money you have to run them for the benefit of the team. I specifically remember him using the words "kids" which made me laugh for a few reasons. Firstly, even Helio is a kid compared to A.J. now. Secondly, it was obvious he was talking about Kellett and lastly it reminded me of the fact he will always be the only person to ever be able to say he raced against both Juan Manuel Fangio as well as Jeff Gordon. (Race of Two Worlds at Monza in 1958 and Brickyard 400 in 1994)

One of the worst-kept silly season secrets now confirmed by the driver it concerns.

Dunno why, but I have the feeling the way this article is phrased, Kaiser seems to out of the running.

Tony George: I think we need more american sprintcar guys in the 500. I'mma just split the sport in half, make an oval only formula where they are still excluded and eventually become the exact thing I said was the problem, only with me in charge now.

Roger Penkse: Fuck it, I'll just go and fund a ride for one or two of them

Roger is many things but he's no fool. He knows if he puts Larson in a Penske Indycar that he'll have a standing room only crowd for the 500.

I don't even like Larson and I would root for him at the Speedway. Get this done so we can firmly cement Kyle as one of the best ever.

exactly my same thoughts. I'd love to see Larson give it a proper attempt.

Roger knows that having a short tracker attempt the 500 will put more interest into the qualifying days too, especially if they spent alot of time on the bullrings around Indiana.

hell the 500 this year had more interest here in NC because of Pietro Fittipaldi making the show (past weekly regular at Hickory in Late Model Stocks)

Today marks 6 years since Justin Wilson was killed in a completely freak accident at Pocono. While there is obviously nothing good about that, his organs did help save the lives of 5 other people and the accident helped push forward cockpit protection for drivers in open wheel racing. I still can't believe the one in a billion odds of that crash :(

Got myself an organ donors card after that happened. RIP Justin

Fighter 'til the end.

I remember reading RACER magazine in university and he really got me interested of "The American Formulas. Later on I found out his mailbags and on track commentary. What a true enthusiast and Legend of this sports.

Godspeed, Robin Miller. We truly miss you.

Man, I thought he was on the mend based on him being at the track just a couple weeks ago.

Rest in peace, Robin.
