OMG he stood inches from cars doing 240+mph and something came close to him?? I'm shocked! There's no way anyone could have seen this coming....

Wilson is out for the 500 unfortunately :(. Fractured vertebrae. The team is preparing a new chassis, the crashed one was destroyed. No driver changes have been announced yet.

I wonder if there's a way Rahal can get that spot?

Exactly what I was thinking. Work something out with sponsors and have him race rather than someone who's been on the sidelines all week

If Rahal was to sub in Wilson's car, one benefit would be car fit out - both Graham and Stefan are similarly tall at 6'3 and 6'4 respectively.

Maybe this unrealistic, but with Rahal driving for Honda, I imagine the only way he gets in the race is if DRR works out a deal to back out of the race under the condition that Rahal drives with the sponsorship from the 24 car.

The other name being chucked around is Hildebrand, although a chunk of track time would have to be arranged for him to complete his refresher.

JR Hildebrand was supposedly seen going for a medical exam, which is a pre-requisite to participate.

Such an unnecessary crash. Not putting the blame on Legge or anything, it's just that collisions during practice are really unfortunate. It looked innocuous at first, was more worried about Legge.

Please, dear Racing Gods, there are so many drivers deserving the win on this lineup. Anyone but him

Crossposting from the GDT - Rahal will replace Wilson.

Makes sense. He's at the track, has plenty of practice, is a similar build to Wilson, and even has a bit of history with the team.
Sucks for Wilson, but hopefully Graham can bounce back with a decent run. Probably a better package than the RLL cars as well.

Here is something pretty crazy about the #24's backup car.

Jesus, that chassis is 11 years old. Thing about where you were 11 years ago. Apart from TBK.

I'd give anything to return to 11 years ago, tbh.

according to Jay Frye on Kenny Wallace's YouTube show - the #24 & #44 will be allowed to complete install laps on Thursday to make sure there's no issues on the cars

One of my side hustles in life, is that I'm a pub trivia host. I'll be honest, the people who do the quiz's are usually, your book-reading intellectual types, who aren't into sports.

As a side question, I put down 9 sporting venues, and it was their job to identify them. Mostly they were sports stadiums, like Wembley or Fenway, or horse racing venues like Flemington and Royal Ascot. But I threw this image in here to see if this crowd could identify this sporting venue:

Image

There were about 14-15 teams playing

3 got it right.

Here were the other answers, which I thought would give you all a laugh

Daytona
Datona (I think they meant Daytona but spelt it wrong)
Daytona
Texas (yeah they just wrote Texas)
California Speedway
The One Lightning McQueen wins in at the end of Cars
Daytona
Chicago Bulls (??)
Bathurst
Daytona
Indian Speedway (I gave these guys a point for trying)

I'm both surprised they knew California speedway, and that nobody suggested Monaco. Texas maybe deserves half a point, COTA has a somewhat similar scoring tower on the pit wall.
