Rahal would have made it had Chilton been on the brakes.

thankfully it was relatively low speed, still nasty nonetheless

Memo to Mr Chilton: Keep your foot on the brake during a spin, it stops you rolling across the track in front of the oncoming traffic.

Muppet.

Chilton had zero reason to spin. He had no one around him to avoid. Just panic braked instead. Useless effing driver.

I think he slowed to avoid re-ending Hinch. I'll give him the benefit of a doubt there.

Not staying on the brakes and rolling back into the racing line in inexcusable however.

Oval racing is so easy though, remember, he probably has no idea what to do in a spin because brilliant racing driver Max Chilton will never spin, so doesn't need to consider how not to escalate an incident if he thinks he's never going to have one!

No way Chilton deserves any benefit of the doubt. Hinch was just far enough ahead not to be a major influence. And that onboard from Hinch shows how to navigate a crash scene while others are spinning around you.

In fact that overhead replay shows Chilton 2nd in a line of 5 cars, he's the only one who spins while the others don't even bobble. The 5th car is Rahal.

You're all forgetting Chilton finished every F1 race in 2013. He must be good

since he's not as experienced as everybody else he probably lost it from turning down away from the crash while letting off the gas in the corner

he was slow enough so everybody could crash ahead of him without actually involving him

So Chilton blamed everyone else, the downforce and Rahal, while admitting he was rolling back up the track. Good job dick.
