I remember that day.

Wasn't there someone from this forum attending the testing event at the time?

I've never seen pictures or anything else about this crash.

RIP Tony

It felt weird at the time to hear of any testing at Indy that wasn't May but it even seems weirder now.

Seems weird it is 10 years already. I was a member of TBK barely a month when it happened.

RIP Tony

I believe the only pictures were from a news chopper flying overhead showing the fence damage. The first few rows of grandstands were littered with debris also.

Yeaa, I remember that picture. All others were suppressed.

Strange to think that it's been ten years now.

So apparantly Andretti's switch to Honda for 2014 was confirmed at Fontana. I must have missed that announcement.

There's a joke in here somewhere. JPM is totally spamming social media with gym pics, like some smug teenager.

I know I'm a few days late to this, but still..

Man, finishing the season in August to me is just asking for trouble. I really hope they pull something off in the last minute and make the it longer because they will fall off the radar so bad, and the sad part is that at least in paper we have a great season ahead with Montoya and TK in competitive cars, plus the other usual suspects.

Wow Juan looks really old in the top pic. I'm still used to how he looked in 1999-2003.

Some 2013 stats:

Interesting how Power was the best qualifier and led the most laps.

That's Powers strangths. He has amazing raw speed, which puts him out front at the start and generally he runs at the front for significant amounts of time. There are 2 problems which stop him winning more (and one isn't his fault).

1 - the yellow happy nature of American Racing means strategy is always a gamble. So if you're running at the front then you have a lot to lose. So many times we've seen dominating drivers be no where at the finish because the yellows and strategy didn't sync up. You can only plan so much for that, and the person at the front always has more to lose.

2 - he has no ability of coping with pressure. He can race and win on ovals just fine, when theres no pressure. But look at the last 2 championship deciders where he made silly unforced errors and was no where before it.

As much as I think he's a complete bell end, he's probably got the most raw speed of anyone in IndyCar. He just needs a bit more luck, and to deal with stress and pressure better. He's clearly good enough to win a title on talent.

Per Autoracing1, Jay Penske has decided to shutdown Dragon Racing IndyCar team and will do Formula E only.

If it wasn't for people losing their jobs, this would have been all good. Now we need Kalkhoven out.

Supposedly one of the cars was sold to Roger to field for JPM (#2 car).

Sad to see a team leave and people losing jobs. But fir the startingfield this won't have a major impact since Penske and Ganassi all field extra cars next year. I guess we won't see the talented Savaadra back.

Apparently Andretti's move to Honda was 'encouraged' by IndyCar.

Guess they needed a top Honda team now that Ganassi decided to switch to the bowties.

A translation of those quote marks means "paid for", right?
