That was kind of my point, everything nowdays is governed by double standards, pretty soon just cracking a joke about someone else will be illegal.

The "woman of colour" that you mention, used to be referred to here as a "half cast", until someone (probably white) deemed it offensive, and now calling someone half cast will get you a huge backlash, arrested and probably jail time, yet the kid of said half cast mum calling her a "big fat nigger loving c**t"* in the middle of Tesco cos she refused to buy him sweets is somehow acceptable, and people wonder why things like Trump happen (*heard not so long ago in Tesco Gatwick).

Priorities people, priorities. I know this will annoy some, and American Law is different to English, but assuming PT did pen the message, then nothing in the message broke English or European law, being a tit isn't illegal.

If I went and called a Black, or Hispanic or any other minority "colored" I'd be beating the lynch mob off my front porch. Wait... Is it still OK to call a Black person Black? I'm not really up on what I can and cannot say or type anymore.

Wait...was my choice of words something that's concidered offensive? :?

In my defense, mentioning ethnical background in Finland is based on area of roots and color of skin. Religious base is not mentioned usually at all. So pardon me if something was lost in translation and caused a mix up.

It would probably be 200 miles which is 59 laps.

Considering they haven't made the decision on the layout they'll run, I don't think no one knows yet about any distance/laps.

They might set the length to avoid fuel mileage

Río de Janeiro’s mayor announced an IndyCar street race for 2020.

The track will go through the sambodrome. I hope they deal with the surface beforehand, this time.

I liked the street races they had in Brazil last time, they looked well attended and had good action, I'm surprised Indycar hasn't made more of an effort to have more races in Brazil tbh

RACER / Marshall Pruett report: IndyCar has denied claims about the proposed Brazil street race having a contract for 2020

(one error in the article stating Sao Paulo instead of Rio however)

Wow, I honestly though Alonso had given up courting INDYCAR for his attention seeking and had moved on to NASCAR to get his fix

Will the Alonso effect strike twice? Indycar seem to be depending on it...

The effect will surely help overseas viewing, not as much here though obviously. Still a big deal regardless when a driver like Alonso is attempting the race.

It's all about context, and context is found out there in the real world, not on the internet. Real life is much simpler than internet. You just gotta talk to different people in society, and you get a sense of this kind of thing.

And if you make a clumsy mistake in real life, as long as you were honest/nice and you're around reasonable people, it's just a bit awkward at worst, funny at best, then you eventually feel the room and then all is fine. It's just that internet doesn't convey simple human things like tone, context, awkwardness, empathy, tactfulness... and it tends to put in view completely batshit insane people who you never meet in real life, those who are so far removed from society that they don't get context, lack any social awareness and have no emotional maturity (and they include both "sides": racist dipshits, as well as overreacting snowflakes).

Wait, is this the Indycar thread? Go Alonso Indy 500 champion 2019!!
