How old is TK? In NASCAR you can stay competitive at a higher age, so it's logical he would make the switch. On ovals he's still good, but on road and street courses he get's his ass kicked by Simona most of the time.

Dangerous precedent. If you do that then the other arsehole owners will kick up a fuss as they love to do, saying they have indy 500 winners too why shouldn't they get money to run them, etc.

The last thing you wanna do is give these jerks any opportunity to kick off

Bit of a difference between reigning and and an old champion.

Michael Andretti is "very close" on getting the sponsorship needed to run Montoya next year. He claims to be negotiating with a couple of big sponsors that are interested on Juan and only Juan, which means this deal has nothing to do with the deals being worked out to keep Hinchcliffe or to put Carlos Muñoz in a car.

Viso is still considered if he mantains his backing. Do you guys think AA would be able to run as much as 6 full-time entries? (RHR, Marco, Hinch, Montoya, Viso, Muñoz) and 7 at Indy if you count Kurt Busch?

I hear a big tech company with interests in Tony's home country are interested in sponsoring him at Andretti. He is all but gone from KV Racing either way.

A sextuplet of veteran IZOD IndyCar Series drivers, their crews and manufacturer engineers braved ambient temperatures approaching triple digits and a track temperature of 132 Fahrenheit to begin testing the 2014 Indianapolis 500 specification Firestone Racing Tires.

Firestone Racing chief engineer Dale Harrigle explained, “The purpose of today is to set the 2014 (Indianapolis 500) tire. We have a good baseline with what we raced here in 2013. But we always have the opportunity to improve.” Harrigle went on to explain that as the teams have got more comfortable with the DW-12, Firestone is more comfortable adapting the tire compound to the chassis.

Marco Andretti, Dario Franchitti, Tony Kanaan, Simon Pagenaud, Will Power, and Justin Wilson are the drivers turning laps on the historic 2.5 mile Indianapolis Motor Speedway (IMS) oval. They are testing two new left side compounds, five new right side compounds and a couple of construction changes in an attempt to improve grip and wear life.

On June 2, 2013, Derrick Walker, president of competition and operations for INDYCAR presented a timeline that would see speeds increase yearly, looking towards breaking the 236.986 mph IMS track record for the 100th running of the Greatest Spectacle in Racing in 2016.

In that INDYCAR 2021 Innovation Press Conference, Walker specifically mentions Firestone and their commitment to producing safe tires for any speed saying, “We're working with our partner Firestone to develop the best kind of tires for our cars. They know how a build a car for 240, 250 miles per hour, if you can go that fast. The capacity is there.”

[Marco Andretti, Indianapolis Firestone Tire Test] When asked if the compounds that Firestone Racing brought to this test were part of that first incremental step in increasing speeds, Harrigle said, “Yes, I think we are trying to lay the foundation for some of the things that Derrick’s talked about.”

The teams were utilizing the same boost that was used on Fast Friday and Pole Day in 2013, and the top reported speed on Tuesday, September 10 was a lap over 223mph by Andretti.

CHICAGO (AP) -- Kurt Busch said Thursday he will not race in IndyCar's season finale at Fontana.

Busch said the deadline has passed that he and Andretti Autosport needed to notify Chevrolet they'd need an engine for the Oct. 19 race in California. Busch wanted to run the race as a possible warm-up for next year's Indianapolis 500.

He's not given up on trying to run Indy next season for Andretti.

''I was just hoping to have more of my homework done, more experience and more of an education, which would have meant to race Fontana this year and to be better prepared for Indianapolis next year,'' Busch said.

Busch made the Chase for the Sprint Cup championship this year driving for Furniture Row Racing, the first time a single-car team has made the Chase in its 10-year history. He's joining Stewart-Haas Racing next season.

Busch needs to find a sponsorship package to fund his Indy 500 effort in order to move forward with Andretti.

There will be no Grand Prix of Baltimore in 2014 or 2015.

In 2014 Baltimore City hosts the Ohio State / Navy game and in 2015 a large American Legion Convention comes to town. There's a chance it may return in 2016, but that remains up in the air for now.

J.P. Grant, who financed the race for the past two years said he has no plans to finance the race again.

The week-long racing festival took over Baltimore City over the 2013 Labor Day weekend, and was the third time the race was held in the city.

At the end of the race this year Tim Mayer, the general manager of the Grand Prix told FOX45, "We're really just working the issues out right now, the MLB schedule, the NFL schedule, IndyCar, and the Convention Center schedule."

Sad, but no surprise with the rumors floating around the last few weeks.

Oh no, that clusterfuck of a track won't be seen again and teams will be able to save thousands in crash damage while the series itself won't seem amatuer as fuck due to all the shitty decisions they make when such a crazy race happens.
Boo-hoo...etc

Bye bye Baltimore, come back in a couple of years when you've ground down those monorail tracks enough so we don't need that shitty launchpad of a chicane!
