Yes, there are some articles on Racer. They changed from from Brembo to FPS. Sort of. Calipers from one supplier, brake pads from the other, etc. Seems they realized too late they'll have overheating issues and what not.

This is like a 2000s F1 race with all this different strategy but no-one (at least on screen) running close

He does. Both series' lineage are now counted as 'IndyCar'.

Well, sort of. When Indycar bought it all they rolled the histories together, so CART/CHAMPCAR champions are credited for Indycar... When it suits them to mention it.
