Based on the draw, I think O'Ward, Power and Newgarden have an outside chance of making the Fast 9, but every other Chevy is SOL.

Also, regarding the order of guaranteed runs: if the weather is any similar to yesterday, an early run would mean much cooler conditions than in the afternoon. You get a surface way friendlier to the tires and more oxygen in the air, with means more horse power. So, the earlier the better. Rahal, Sato and Dixon are almost guaranteed to make it into the Top 9.
Veekay, Pato and Power will be the best Chevrolets for sure! Newgarden didn't look strong in qualifying trim, just as Pagenaud.
And Andretti has the worst of luck again with the draw. In the mid day hat he on't have a chance to make the fast nine.

My fast nine are:
Rahal, Sato, Dixon, Veekay, Power, Harvey, Pigot, Rossi and RHR. In no particular order.

One lap looks strong for Honda in hot weather, but four lap average evens it out for Chevy. And this only applies for Qualifying boost level, in racing trim Chevrolet cars seems to be working just fine.

So for me at least this looks interesting, qualifying front might not mean so much on the race day and cars seems to be working nicely when following. We might see a lot of position changes on track.

Yes, the Penskes in particular looked happy in traffic, so they should be fine next weekend.

I think there will be enough Hondas running early today when the track isn't boiling the tyres to make it too difficult for all but the earliest Chevy cars.

did Penske et al add wing to be better in traffic and have better tyre wear
