I think it looks alright. I'd certainly give the sport a chance if I am able to watch it.

Low profile tyres eh? Not sure about the two side winglets. They should cover it in solar panels to help it recharge lol

To make a comparison, it's like going to a concert without audio!

I don't think the "audio" part is as big of a deal as seeing a machine go very quick.

And to be honest, there would be quite a novelty of seeing relatively silent zip along as quickly as a race car. Electric cars' big advantage performance wise is acceleration, so I can see why they are choosing twisty street circuits to start out with -- its probably the best place to demonstrate what they are capable of, as from what I understand EV top speed is not where internal combustion engines are yet.

The sheer "new technology" aspect might bring some people out, if they can make a good product and also use it as a platform for further technology advancements (especially in batteries and power) they might have something going. It's no secret that auto racing in general is in somewhat of a decline of late, and for open wheel in general I think a part of this was that the (practical) technology limit has been pushed about as far as we can go... the days of "new track records" at Indy etc. for instance are long gone and that's long been an appeal of open wheel. It's harder to get excited about spec cars.

I'm a bit surprised they are not piggybacking on at least a couple of existing Formula 1 events, though. I guess at this point this is more of an "exhibition" in some ways.

Definitely a gamble of a series but if you never play, you never win. It could go either way.

So will the Monaco race form part of the Historic GP (seems unlikely) or will it be a stand alone event?

No drivers yet, no. Judging by the other 'non-ladder' series that have been around, expect a healthy mix of experienced journeymen, younger drivers with no money to drive anything else, and a few completely hopeless gentlemen.

Their Youtube channel has a short clip of what is supposedly the engine noise. If it's real, it sounds like an aeroplane.

I don't believe so, but wouldn't it be a coup for the series to get someone of the calibre of Felipe Massa to try and raise the public profile?

I can see Narain Karthikayan joining this series also.

Just teams so far.

I'm a bit surprised that so far two of the four announced teams are Indycar teams (Andretti Autosport and Dragon Racing).

The overreaction to this I've seen all over the internet is unreal.

1 push to pass? Big deal!

If it's anything like Indycar they usually all have about 3 left in the closing laps anyway, 1 more for 1 driver isn't going to sway anything.
