Lotterer was out of power and looked like he tried blocking Bird.

Holy shit at the Bird/Lotterer crash. It looks moderately sizeable on TV, I closely missed witnessing it live, but seeing the immediate aftermath and amount of debris scattered along that section is insane.

The event is really picking up with a big crowd and fairly good view of the track in free access areas, but they made it so that you really get value for your money if you get a ticket as it includes the pit walk is open to all spectators with tickets between the two practice sessions, you're very close to mechanics, team principals and drivers, it's awesome to see them working on the cars. There was good access around the track especially around the pit entry/exit area, I actually preferred standing there and watching the car's lines into these corners instead of sitting on the grandstands along the main straight.

Even if I cheered for Vergne as the local hear, half my heart really was with Bird as he's my favourite driver in Formula E - though I almost left him hanging in the dry earlier that morning when he came shaking hands with fans in the pits
