Bird crashed himself in the pits

Bird had a drive through penalty, and still kept the lead just barely. Gained some on Vergne & Heidfeld after they checked up in the chicane

Red flag delay was embarrassingly long given there wasn't much clearing up needed, they'll need to improve that in the future. Not sure why they made the chicane even tighter than last year, basically guarantees any attempt to get 2 wide through is an accident. Not a bad race otherwise

So Bird has also been given a ten place grid penalty for the pit incident.

Considering he probably has the fastest car on the grid, that makes today's race potentially even more exciting to watch

A bit shocked there isn't more commenting here, to me Formula E has it all, some of the best racing on the planet, heroes and villains to root for/against on track, some of the best on-board and tv directing in motorsport, racing in the off season when there's nothing else on, lots of controversy to debate etc etc

How Buemi didn't get a penalty for the incident with Di Grassi is a mystery. Obviously that dick is never going to change, but he goes on the attack again after the race blaming Lucas for his own incident.
Lets put him above Plato on the hate scale now. I'm that serious

The main thing that frustrated me about race 1 though was the unnecessary long re-gridding procedure where they took ages to work out who was where after the red flag

WHY? Just start from scratch and be done with it, would've saved half an hour, to hell with the FIA and its ludicrous red flag rules
(I thought they changed that rule anyway, at least for F1. We were promised more start-grid restarts should a red flag come out from 2017. Obviously that didn't happen but still, i'm sure they decided to drop the pointless SC restarts after reds?)

Looking good for race 2 then!

One for the spin and win list then, Rosenquist's pace was seriously impressive in that 2nd race, debatable if he deserved a penalty for forcing his way back in after spinning, and blocking Flippi into the wall though.

Organisers need to get their shit together though, that 5 minutes of waiting with no information at the aborted start was excruciating, combined with the 30min red flag shouldn't be happening in the series 4th year

Those organisational issues were typical for an FIA series. No idea why they couldn't have started race 2 with a flag. Not really fair for Bird to penalised twice for one incident either.

I didn't realise that Channel 5 was still showing the series until after the first race, but they prioritised children's TV over live coverage of the second. (It's rather randomly being presented by Vernon Kay as well.) So I ended up watching the Eurosport coverage instead. Tom fucking Gaymor.

There was some good racing for how tight the track is in places, with the first race being the better of the two.
