This journalist appears to be an informed motorsports fan, but his opinion seems to generalize a venue problem to a whole series. He should replace the generic "Formula E" with "The New-York Formula E GP Organisers" all throughout his article to be fair. Little of that criticism is applicable to Paris or to Marrakesh, the two races I attended so far (and I was never in a "European" VIP zone).
It still sucks that it's the only experience the US public got of the series. Wait, no, I forgot, there was Long Beach, which people found enjoyable as far as I know. And wait, that one was held at a historical motorsport venue. Now I'm starting to see patterns too.

Trois Rivieres would make the perfect Formula E track :flag:

Can anyone clue me in as to why they just stopped going to Long Beach? (although I'm going to guess that there's some political stuff going on in the background as is the case of the cancellation of the Montreal races...) I kinda wanted to go to that one, but that ship has apparently sailed...

Found this old article

https://www.presstelegram.com/2016/07/0 ... x-in-2017/

Quote:
The series piggy-backed on the Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach, using the Long Beach Grand Prix Association’s help in organizing the race. The event had been held two weeks before IndyCar on the same street track around the convention center.
“They had discussions with us and we looked at different formulas,” association president and CEO Jim Michaelian said. “In financial discussions, in the end we did not come to an agreement. It just did not make sense for either of us.”

Well, this could shake things up ahead of this weekend's race: No minimum pitstop time :O

https://www.motorsport.com/formula-e/ne ... me-994494/

I think it's a good move, though there needs to be a formula E observer watching every pitstop, NASCAR style, with immediate disqualification and further draconian penalties for anyone who sacrifices safety in favour of saving time

Also, there's a race on Saturday :p

New title sponsor was announced this week (first for a FIA series too):

ABB FIA Formula E Championship

Interesting. They sponsored the #33 Forsythe car of Teo Fabi in 1995.

It is very promising news and we got the experience to do it. Let’s wait and see if anything official comes out of this!

It will be brilliant for the city and the West Midlands if the city pulls this off.

They've already said no lol

Oh well, there's still the time trials at the Coventry Motofest.
I'm hoping that becomes a full on street race for at least the BTCC or something like that in the future

Unless FE have changed their 'sanctioning' arrangements you don't want your local authority funding this particular jolly, it'll probably bankrupt them, instead lobby them to bring BTCC in that is fan friendly and entertaining, not some vanity project for the self obsessed.

No-one ever mentioned the council paying for it tbf

I have no idea how far they went into proposals, but since our council is more interested in closing live music venues (because they're "not important" ) in favour of new overpriced flats, I'd be in favour of them splooging some money on Formula E since I would actually get some pleasure out of that.

No that's been the problem, FE don't exactly spell out how much these events cost to put on and the organisers get a shock once the final bill is totalled up, get BTCC, at least you might get some overtaking.

Just ruined by the halo. Now if it had something like the shield, proper Batmobile look.

Eh. Should've stuck a canopy on it.

Rest of the car looks good.
