I guess we'll be in a "10 race calender with the same tracks, but one existing track getting a different layout" format until someone builds another track or invests heavily in Coombe/Mallory/Lydden or wherever else needs the big bucks to bring in the BTCC

Or if that Rockingham luxury car parking company goes out of business

Could be worse, i guess.

the current tracks are great but more would always be welcome. maybe they run an endurance race as something different

If they’re happy to go to Knockhill then there’s no reason for them to not go to Mallory, Coombe or Cadwell .

There is. NIMBY's. I'll bet many of the twelves arseholes that stopped Brit GT/F3 from coming back to Castle Combe are still festering in the area.

NIMBY's have also been trying to get Mallory Park closed haven't they?

They did iirc. Then one of the BSB team owners bought the circuit and reopened it.

The ironic thing I heard was that after the circuit closed, the local business in the village all complained about the drop off in trade and that they were loosing money.

I bet a lot of those twelve arseholes don’t even live near Coombe anymore., I remember many years ago talking to the one such NIMBY who always used to complain about racing going over the curfew at Brands, they used to stand in their back garden watch in hand waiting and if anything crept past the 6pm curfew they’d be straight on the phone to the council, being the cocky teenager I was, I shouted out to them that if it bothered them so much about living next to a track, to sell me the house as I’d gladly live there.

RE: Mallory, they have an agreed number of noisy days like most circuits do but they exceeded that number one year a few years ago, hence the complaints.

Pretty sure Mildenhall raceway lost its court case to one house near the raceway.

That had mysteriously burnt down between the papers being served and the ruling in court... :whistling:

But they still won the case even though no one could live there any more.

So there's a burnt down house in the middle of RAF Mildenhall that objected to the noise of a race track

In the middle of RAF MILDENHALL

An active military airport

With Jet Engines taking off and landing constantly

Yes, it's definitely the race track that's too loud for the people that can't live there any more.... :slaphead:

Knowing English Courts the owner of that house was best friends with the Judge or his son, but of course the Judge was impartial and didn’t need to excuse himself from the hearing for conflict of interest.

Where have I heard that recently….?

Going to go to Brands Hatch for the finale, getting too old to stand all day so going to go for a grandstand, any recommendations? I was thinking Paddock Hill, some of the sections are a lot fuller than the others, do some sections have a much better view?

Paddock Hill is definitely the best view. You'll be paying almost twice the price of a GA ticket though.

Paddock Hill bend has to be the most filmed corner in British Motorsport

Take a camera and go sit at Clearways and film the stuff everyone else misses please :p

It’s on the GP circuit right? Some excellent photo/video opportunities out in the woods, or there was last time I was there. Take a camping chair and park yourself anywhere really.

Ginetta has revealed it's signed a new 3 year deal with SRO to be part of the British GT package. TOCA will announce the replacements shortly - expected to either be club class Mini's, Porsche's, Mazda 5's or something new. It means Ginetta has canned the Supercup and will run Juniors, Academy and a new mixed class championship. A lot of pissed off people who have bought G56's and now have no where to really race them bar British GT. A few teams have already announced they will not be part of the new championships.

Won't miss the Supercup, shame about the Juniors. Hopefully Minis and Mazda's are the replacement rather than more Porsches

Weird decision.

Trading the high viewing figures (Is British GT even shown anywhere but its own stream any more? Certainly not its supports...) and high crowd numbers of the BTCC package for the British GT package which must bring in half the BTCC numbers if that...

Maybe TOCA were trying to increase the fees on them or whatever else, but it must be a money decision as I'm sure the teams, drivers and particularly the sponsors would want to be in front of as many eyeballs as possible

Though having just typed all that, maybe a sportscar manufacturer is better suited to a GT package and a touring car package can attract a good support series for its own potential future teams and drivers.
More Minis or the classic touring cars that seem to run around with the BARC Trucks package these days would be ideal.
Hell, I'd even love to see the Pickup Truck championship but I guess they'll be a fish out of water without bigger trucks around

Just please, PLEASE no more Porsche races stinking up the package with longer races than the main event with about 12 cars, most of which are in seperate classes for professionals and amatures....I know we all need a toilet/food break in a full day of racing but....c'monnn, one dull championship in an otherwise wall to wall exciting package is enough.

Oh well, it was fun while it lasted but I'm not as gutted as I was when the Clios left....
(There is zero chance of any of the clios running around the UK these days wanna sneak back onto the BTCC package, is there?) :whistling:

Post subject:  Re: BTCC 2022. Bye Bye Ginetta.

Caterhams are aligned with BARC now, so they'll probably be the replacement.

It's a massive shame to lose the juniors but the silver lining is that we'll now actually be able to watch all of the races because SRO actually give a shit about covering their support classes.
