It's time for Kart99's traditional opening of the 2017 BTCC Random discussion thread. Lots and lots of changes coming over the winter with several teams confirming the switch to new cars, some drivers looking unlikely to return and the (strong) possibility of another manufacturer joining the fray. Going to be a hectic 6 months!

According to previous episodes of Tin Top Tuesday, BKR might be running Subarus next year and Team HARD are going to replace their Toyotas (and are hoping to get manufacturer backing, but all teams want that). And, unfortunately, Simon Belcher is planning to return.

As far as who I'd like to see make their debut/return:
Dave Newsham
Daniel Lloyd
Dan Cammish
James Nash
Josh Files
Mike Bushell
Ant Whorton-Eales
Tom Onslow-Cole

And who I'd like to see the back of:
Mark Howard
Stewart Lines
Martin Depper
Warren Scott
James Cole
Alex Martin
Ollie Jackson
Kelvin Fletcher

Dan Cammish is about 95% likely to be on the grid and I've seen Eurotech and WSR to replace Tordoff mentioned. Same with Dan Lloyd as it's possible that neither Smith or Depper will be back. Smith has said he definitely wants to run a couple of younger guys next year.

Matt Simpson does look like he's all but confirmed next year going by his latest tweet.

Team Hard are looking at several manufacturers.

On the manufacturer front - and I know this is an oldie - but Kia were for all intents and purposes going to race as an official team and had confirmed this to TOCA but pulled out as they wanted to race with the new, updated Opima. Perhaps 2017? Nissan has also been in talks with a couple of teams again and there is at least one other manufacturer taking a 'very serious' look at the BTCC.

Sam Tordoff dosen't look like he may be back, meaning JCT600 branding wont be on the cars next year.

So Tordoff really is going to retire then?

All indications - and of course these may change - are yes, Tordoff wont be back.

No idea. He brought it up in an interview during the coverage and mentioned doing other things. I guess just like Alguesuari.

At this stage, no reason has really been mentioned, so until he says so it's going to be a bit of a mystery

Ingram and Simpson will be retained at Speedworks in their Avensis and Civic respectively

AMD have also stated their intention to run Ollie Jackson and a second driver (Mike Bushell?) next year. Both in A3's

Tony Gilham has confirmed that Team Hard will be running new cars next year. The Toyota's wont be returning.

Handy also looks set to be changing cars for next year.

Andrew Jordan won't be at Motorbase in 2017.

Well that's a surprise, I thought he was pretty much staying put.

Is Jordan trying to drive for more BTCC teams in his career than any other driver? 2 stints at his own team, 2 stints at 888 and then a single season at Motobase. Where next?
