Time for the start of the Northamptonshire swing at the Rockingham roval.

The gaps championship standings closed up nicely at Knockhill and it's not stupid to think that the same will happen here, as this track has seen some winnners whom you wouldn't normally expect to take victory. Rob Austin achieved both of his wins here, will he accomplish the feat for a third year in a row or will we see a new winner? Tom Ingram will be itching for his first win, being a consistent top 10 finisher, although unlucky.

Another driver looking for luck is Árón Smith. Despite having one of the best cars on the grid, he's had a bad run lately, sits 48 points outside the top 10 in the standings and 127 off the championship lead. Andrew Jordan is another who hasn't performed to his potential and will be hungry for his first win of the year, and having won here twice before, it's a distinct possibility that he could stand atop the podium.

As we know, Andy Priaulx will be missing this round. His replacement, Nick Foster, while not of Priaulx's calibre, should be capable of bringing the car home solidly in the points.

In the supports, the Carrera Cup will be missing from the standard lineup but to the pleasure of many will be replaced by the HSCC SuperTourers. As great as it will be to see the cars of a previous era, it does strike me as odd to see them racing at the newest track in the country, a track that wasn't operational when they were contemporary.
