Basically should be second since Tordoff should get a penalty.

Or for people interested in the actual result, Plato wins from Tordoff and Neal.

Well if Tordoff doesn't get a time penalty for passing under yellow then that is a crock of shit.

Nah, Tordoff needs a penalty for overtaking under yellows and tbh Plato should be penalised for running so wide at turn 1 he was off to the drive thru.....

Neal wins!  :p

We haven't even seen a replay, he might have passed just after the yellow zone. Don't jump to conclusions.

He was pulling alongside by where the marshals post was showing a yellow, he was past before the next marshals post.

Bah, I wake up late, spend 15 minutes trying to find a sodding stream (hate being forced to use vipbox) just in time to see an MG 1-2. I are not in the best mood.

Neal was running out of fuel 8O

He was pulling alongside in the yellows. Nose ahead or not, he ignored the yellows to setup a pass.

This idea if a pass isnt a pass until the nose is a mm ahead under yellows is madness. Intent is everything, and yellows are a safety issue, not sporting. If you're setting up and pulling alongside a car under waves yellows, you should be parked. Not give the place back, parked. There are marshals out their risking their lives, and safety is not an option.

Exactly. I can't agree more with this, especially as I marshal for a day job.

If that had been my workplace it'd be an immediate black flag.
Just closing up on the kart in front and carrying more speed through the yellow flag zone is a penalty.

The point of a yellow flag is to get the drivers to slow down and be prepared to stop, not work out how they can use the zone to their advantage to pass the car ahead when they reach the green.

Racing for MG *sigh* Somehow being Plato's teammate corrupts drivers to the deepest levels.

If it's Cottrell in charge he won't be penalised, had exactly same situation years ago and he dismissed it, apparently according to him the rules state "slow down and be prepared to stop, no overtaking under yellow", they don't say anything about setting up the pass to complete it once you enter the green track.

The guy lives on another planet to the rest of us, but that's a conversation for another day.

They used to be really strict at Silverstone on stuff like that though, so here's hoping Cottrell isn't the CoC.

Agreed. But at the moment, what Tordoff did was within the rules. It's up to the stewards to clarify and clamp down on it. You know what drivers are like - if there's a loophole, they'll exploit it.

Problem is, the BTCC has one set of rules and the rest of the UK national racing scene has another.

I agree, however the word loophole should not even be a thing in safety. I understand that in technical regulations loopholes exist and you can't really penalise somebody if it's technically legal. But in safety terms, every single one of these drivers should know better. And BTCC should have the stones to run around and say "What you did was fine by the letter of the book, but you know fine well it was unsafe. Park the car and fuck off. We don't need this sort of driving here"

Well if you're setting up for a pass in a yellow zone it's quite blatant that you're not slowing down enough.

Nasty hit for Jamie Orton. Atleast it wasn't driver's side.
