Yeah, although, I think 2010 only had 4 safety cars.

The right pairing won, imo.

Well an atrocious day for our side of the garage, one with big damage and failure early for the other, but still incredible experience, time to get pissed! We did finish 1, 2, 3 on top speed though, only team to hit 300, worth something!

You may not go as far as saying that Dumbrell is the worst driver to have ever won the 1000, but he definitely isn't one of the best, I think we can all on that.

1 win, 2 podiums in a 9 year career (before this year's Sandown 500) with race-winning equipment throughout with the exception of '07, and was crash-prone. Mind you, he did do a very good job this year, so I'll at least give him credit for that. But everyone else has either had better stats than him (some in inferior cars) and/or been successful internationally.

Weren't there 6.
1 - Reid expiring over the top
2 - Debris
3 - Owen/Morris at Griffin's Bend
4 - Besnard/Coulthard 1
5 - Jones/Bright
6 - Besnard/Coulthard 2

Still a 47 lap sprint to the end was probably one of the longer green flag runs to end a race in recent years.

I certainly see your point. It must be remembered though that in the current era where the main drivers must stick to their own cars, there are only a certain amount of 'greats' not in a full-time drive to be paired with the likely winners.

Have you looked at the history of the winners of 1000km races at Bathurst?

How many touring car races did Graeme Bailey win in his career? In his Bathurst win he did less than 30 laps total in the car.

How many touring car races did Barry Mulhulland, George Reynolds, Brian Sampson, Peter McLoed, David Parsons etc.. win in their touring car careers? All are Bathurst winners and all were not regular front runners in local touring car competition.

So I left with about 15 laps to go and missed quite a good one it seems.

Ho hum, I can catch up on Motors TV's delayed coverage....

Oh wait it's only 2 hours to cover the entire race you say? Fuck that!

Still, was hilarious chatting on Mic, still haven't slept yet either, going for the full 32 or whatever hours until post-Dega, expect my posts to become less and less legiblahblahihateplatowilvwasdrunkyaychampcaromgfuckplatoseriouslyyunodropthesejokeswhoooyaytreeomgwheresthestreamcliosclioscliosgrateposting raarghhhh

Here's the recording of the first bit of the Degaramazukastone 1343, featuring myself, codename, Scotty, Chris, Wil Vincent and a couple of cameos from Vercetti.

3 hours and 40 minutes of talking, with some commentating in the middle. Starts at about lap 60 and ends whenever Paul leaves, because he shut down the call. :p

Yeah, I didn't talk much, but I felt that I wasn't going to contribute much to the discussion.

As for the race itself, it was fairly good until that final stint, in which it grabbed the flair for the dramatic. I also like to thank V8 Supercars for streaming the entire race on YouTube with no commercials. It was fun following the race this way.

People are totally gonna wade through all that lol

Was fun though, can't think of another "event" race we have left this year to get one going for but should do it again :)

not up to MotorsTV. Something jinxed all international TV contracts earlier this year, same reason why Speed was not showing this live.

Barry Mulholland is by far the worst of the winners at Bathurst. In his career at Bathurst, he ran 5 races, drove 5 laps, and scored 4 podiums. He was only there because you had to have a co-driver. The moment the rules changed, he was out of a drive. Because of that guy, you cannot say that Paul Dumbrell is the worst driver to have ever won the 1000. It simply isn't possible. Dumbrell is however, the worst winner of the V8 Supercar era. I don't think that is debatable.

Though I have seen him described as actually a good race driver, but that's all he will ever be remembered for by basically everybody.

Barry Mulholland was Bruce McPhee's mechanic. He did the job he was relied on to do.

And so did Paul Dumbrell, and every other co-driver who has helped their lead driver to win this race. If the co-driver doesn't do his job properly, that combination will not win the race, simple as that.

He had 0 in the pot for half the final lap so as far as the engineers were concerned he had run out. He must have been on fumes at the end, bit of luck but damn that team is good.
