Hmm, don't know what to make of this. On the one hand, more cars on the grid and more competitive cars at that, but it'll just give ITV even more of an excuse to show all their races...

They'd do it anyway - Porsche GB lines ITV's pockets handsomely for the TV time.

Better teams we actually know than most of the field filled up with gentlemen drivers in separate classes to make it look like they have bigger numbers.

Still, obviously we'd all wish they just bought 30 Clios between them and had some fun, but whaddya know, rich boys and their toys...

By this point, the Porsches are probably cheaper.

Yeah, I know he's mad and I don't care. I do not care. I did not care then. I do not care now. I'm here to race him.

I posted this and other older BTCC races over at The Fastlane forum and thought you fellow BTCC fans may appreciate it

And for an extra special treat I've also uploaded the 1992 TOCA Shoot Out from Donington Park. This was the first of three end of season shoot outs organised by Alan Gow's TOCA, which offered a £12,000 winner takes all prize to the winning driver. The concept was at the time very unique and offered great entertainment for the public. Fastest drivers started at the back of the grid, the slowest at the front, safety car periods to bunch up the field and also black flags for the last driver in the pack at certain points of the race to reduce the number of competitors and incentivise the drivers to race and overtake. I went to see both the 1993 and 1994 races. 1993 included some whinging brummy who (some might remember) tried a unique line through Old Hairpin and ended up having a hissy fit at Tiff Needell at Brands Hatch some years later as a result... Anyway, enjoy the 1992 race.

It's good to see them sharing it around amongst drivers that otherwise wouldn't get the chance. The selfish racing fan in me would want to see them give some big names a go every round as in the Porsches or in the G50s - giving the likes of Thommo, Huff, Priaulx, or even ex-F1 drivers like Brundle, Warwick, Herbert or, the holy grail, Mansell a run-out to keep the fans happy. But it's equally important to give the rookies a chance to show off on the biggest stage in British national motorsport

I'd love it if Triple 8 just stayed in for this purpose - preparing old Vectras or whatever to a high standard, then offering 1 car to a rookie and 1 car to a big name for every race meeting and rotating it

It's a good opportunity for Tordoff.

Well with Ford and Honda upping their involvement maybe there would be more incentive for Vauxhall to come back.

Of all the Clio drivers to stump up the cash for an occasional go in the Vectra, it's a shame Newsham didn't have the cash as he really seems to be on form right now.

My pleasure, I'm glad you like it. This is one of a number of my caps from my old video collection and I have various other races across 1992, 1993, 1994, 1995 and 1997. I have other years but don't have those video tapes back in my possession yet. If there is enough interest from fellow BTCC lovers here I would be happy to share some of my old races.

Never seen the race in full before so very much appreciated on that one - really enjoyed it! On the other seasons you have, would be intrigued to see some more races in full that were not covered in great detail on the season review so I'd be happy with that.

As I said over at the Fastlane I'm pretty interested in the vids, especially 1992 stuff.

I still have no idea how the BBC managed to miss the Keith O'dor flip, yet there is a fully broadcastable (ie its not from some fan with a camcorder) angle out there they didn't use.

Was anyone else covering the BTCC back then and had footage the BBC couldn't get access too? Maybe even TOCA themselves? :?

As much as you can upload, my good man. Love to get hold of as much 90s BTCC stuff as possible - classic races.
