Doesn't look like we'll be seeing Daniel Welch this weekend. £££ :(

Annoying that they decided to go up against Singapore GP, particularly as there wasn't much on last weekend so would've been a much better slot for this race.

Ho Hum, a test for the recording devices for me, with F1 and BTCC running at the same time and WTCC to come later in the evening...

I'm sorry, a little of topic but I have to ask... If all you do is whinge about the state of WTCC and the Chevy domination, why do you persist in watching it?? :p

I don't know really, a combination of knowing the domination is only temporary and hoping for an underdog victory.
Plus Haven is funny to listen to (usually ranting alongside me :p ) and, well a race at Sears Point is enough to provoke curiosity.

The fact some people *cough* Constanduros *cough* like to get up on their high horse about WTCC being professional and trying to look down on the BTCC when the standard of driving (whether you see it as typical TC stuff or too much biff and baff) is largely the same is usually what sets me off more than anything.
For some people having manufacturers in the series is enough for them to get uppity about it, whereas I don't care whether the drivers are paid to be there or not as long as the racing is great.

TL, DR I don't really see too much difference in the racing between BTCC and WTCC except for the hypocrisy surrounding some opinions so if people just chilled out and enjoyed both without trying to compare the two I'd be less ranty in defending my holy BTCC from the evil WTCC attackers :p

Usually I'd agree, but this year:

GP > BTCC
BTCC > WTCC

Sometimes :)

I doubt Singapore will be a better race though, unless you give it extra credits for being at night.

The 2012 and 2011 BTCC seasons have involved too much bitterness for me to rate it above F1. The state and handling of the "equivalency rules" as well as Plato's reprehensible behaviour (on and off track) has been a reall turn off.

Hungary aside, I think I'd give F1 credit this year for turning up to traditionally dull tracks and putting on great action.

Singapore might not have offered the out and out classic moments in F1 history (bar Webber/Hamilton which did have an effect on the title race I guess ) but under 2012 rules all bets are off.

Rockingham isn't exactly the BTCC's best track either, not that the BTCC could put on a bad race anywhere, but it doesn't leap out at anyone as a favourite venue, surely?

Rockingham as an oval is great. As a road course it is awful. But that said BTCC always puts on great show there. Race 3 of the 2009 championship is amongst my favourite BTCC races of all time.

The first weekend there in 2003 was brilliant IIRC

I'm not having a pop at either Rockingham or the BTCC its just the two don't seem a natural fit in my eyes.
Maybe because its a newer track to the BTCC calender (lol "newer" nearly 10 years old) but yeah, it's not one I pencil in as a favourite.

And all I remember from going there was the racing was great but sitting on those seats all day make you arse sore!

Not too keen on Rockingham as a BTCC venue so it's going to be recorded.

And I agree with Kals. The last two BTCC seasons have had some good moments, but far too often you watch a race and wonder how much of an overtake or a race win was down to the rules favouring you. I mean, I like WSR + Collard, but to win like they did at Knockhill was just ridiculous.

Rockingham isn't one of my favourites. The oval section is something different, and there's often a lot of action at the hairpin. What sucks is that the back section of the circuit is completely out of bounds to spectators.

It does have some things going for it. The spectator area on top of the garages is a really nice feature. It's great to be able to look down on all the pitlane action (I was in the right spot for the Plato/Neal incident last year). If you like collecting autographs, it's very easy to bump into drivers at the back of the pit lane, as that's all open to fans.

It's always criticised for being an awful track for photography, but there are a few options in the little infield section. I found out that the catchfencing at the pit exit/inside of turn 1 has pretty big holes, so I could just about get a lens through there. There's an unrestricted view at Tarzan (the spectator area ends just where the catchfencing does, but you can be cheeky and stand a metre or two beyond it). You can also get a good view of the cars travelling through Gracelands, from the straight that follows Tarzan. I just wish you could get right out to the back of the circuit.
