Yeah see I don't agree with Matt there, he milked that for as much as he could. Plato didn't ram him, rather he tried to follow Matt but got caught out by Matt having to check up thanks to Muller being Muller.

Yeah that was mainly Yvan's fault, any time that there's a car in front backing the pack up (As Plato was trying at Snet) it usually results in a massive accident.
(Wasn't there a huge crash at the same corner the year before due to largely the same thing? Memories failing me...)

Plato was being over-opportunistic when if he's have waited to get through the chicane he probably would've got a run on both of them as Yvan slowed Neal up....

But yeah, playing games and slowing your rivals up, hoping that they'll crash into one another when you know your car is hobbled is just not on.

Just another case of someone with a certain driver always on their mind trying to find every little bit about them because they have a crush on them.

Some more news from this week's Motorsport News is that Formula Renault UK won't return next season, they're not putting it on.

On the plus side, MN has sources that say Formula Ford will return to the BTCC Support bill next season, with 220bhp in the engine

This is good news, I have been enjoying the FFord shows on 4od this year (like hell am I getting up at 7am on a Sat morn  ) despite the car count, so as long as they don't go slicks and wings this will be a great addition to the package :)

They are pretty much nailed-on to go slicks and wings.

I don't see it as a problem. There's no longer any competition, no need to be different. Palmer's new enterprise for 3rd rate 17-year-olds will find its niche but won't form part of any ladder, and BARC Formula Renault will always be first and foremost a series for gentlemen (and lady) drivers. It won't step up to replace the official FRenault series.

Yeah, I know he's mad and I don't care. I do not care. I did not care then. I do not care now. I'm here to race him.

From a fan perspective: no slicks and wings is a lot better cos the cars can follow closer and put on some damn good racing (even with 8 cars or whatever it is now....)

From a driver perspective, they learn a lot about mechanical grip that, while every other car they'll drive will have a lot of Aerodynamic grip, is still a valuable skill to learn.

It's a shame imo. Maybe they can do a WSBR and have 2 races a day, each with different configurations

I don't think some people understand that wings at that level are basically cosmetic. Look at GP3 at Monaco - they were able to drive reasonably competitive laps without a rear wing for god sake. Wings in FF are just there to be called wings.

They also have to be relevant to other series. If a series doesn't teach you anything that you can use for moving up the ladder then it's a pointless series.

FF has more than enough mechanical grip that it renders the need of wings and slicks redundant. ellis has it spot on...

I went out for a birthday night out on Saturday, and one of the people there was the PR woman for Pirtek, who confirmed that pretty much what this forum thinks of Plato is true :-D she said everyone else is nice though.

She also said Jeff Smith hurt his shoulder in the Rockingham hefty crash, and that they're rebuilding the car at the moment which isn't cheap, hopefully be all good for Silverstone.

She also told a tale of when they all went go-karting at Knockhill; just before the race started a bloke came over to "tighten her seat", fiddling with the kart, and then she ended up going slower than everyone else and was lapped twice, so suspected some sort of sabotage, given she's the only woman in the team!

I was going to make a golden Plato troll post yesterday but it more than likely would've got me banned so I didn't. :D

A couple of points in MN:
- Neal has said he will act as wing man to Shedden
- Welch is eager to run 2 Protons next season
- MN understands that Chris Stockton will drive an RML built Chevvy

Tony Gilham seems pretty confident of running three cars too.

[everypost ever ] Yeah but what's the point, only one certain car is allowed to win the title anyway [/everypost ever ]

I can see Thorney selling their car to someone, like Tony Gilham for instance.

Would it be beyond imagination to think of a tie up between Thorney and Gilham, running 2 Hondas and 2 Insignias?
