Whincup and Lowndes take another one... Grats to them! Great battling between Murph, Richards, and Courtney there at the end as well!

Overall a fantastic race as well 8)

Nah, only the last 30 mins were actually worth watching...

Overall 4/10

because of the lack of crashes, or because you thought it wasn't good racing?

The tyre issues were pretty nuts today. Was a cause found towards the end of the race? I recorded the final 30 laps to watch the F1 so I didn't see if they announced a cause during the race (other than curb speculation over 3 corners).

It was a pretty cool finish, it would of been much better if Courtney/Bernard didn't have car problems during the race.

Murphy is such an awesome driver...I LOVED that last stint with him pressuring Richo. There is no one faster than Greg when he is on it.

I thought it was a good race, not as great as 2005, 2006 or 2007, but a good race nonetheless. Congrats to Lowndes and Whincup for 3 in a row, was pulling for Murph and Jase at the end but just fell a bit short.

Also, I was heartbroken to see the 55 Bottle-O car in the fence at Griffins with 2 laps left, as they were running in 6th at the time and had been in the top 5 for parts of the day. They were the underdogs that I was pulling for late in the race. Bargs certainly hasn't missed a beat, and owners would be silly not to have a look at him for a full time ride next year. He and Max Wilson were my drivers of the day, for sure.

I believe there were many outstanding drivers today, but mine was James Courtney. He was just flying and overtaking almost everyone. I believe he and Besnard had the race robbed from them with that tyre or Anti Roll Bar problem they had. Didn't he also end up with the fastest lap too?

My driver of the day was Wilson. To be out of a car for 10 months and to come back and perform as he did was simply outstanding.

Yeah, he was very quick.
BJ was decent too, for being in the same boat.

It was great to see.
Wilson's fastest lap was 2:09.6960, Brad Jones was a 2:10.9408.

Certainly not bad for a guy who hasn't sat in one for ages and another who is old enough to have grand children.

No coincidence that 888 is again the most successful enduro pairing...they are extremely good at the business of long distance racing.

Certainly, at least we had a proper enduro for the first 75 laps

888 thoroughly deserved the victory, they had a 30 odd-second lead before the pace cars started spoiling the race :x

WTF??

V8 Supercars bans sponsor after driver struck
Article from: The Courier-Mail
James Phelps

October 14, 2008 11:00pm

FORD rising star Michael Patrizi was allegedly violently attacked by a sponsor of his team in a shocking aftermath to Sunday's Bathurst 1000.
The young V8 Supercar driver suffered bruising and lacerations to his face when he was allegedly head-butted by a director from electrical testing company Tex Onsite.

The incident occurred at the conclusion of the race when Patrizi was walking with his girlfriend in the pit-lane at Mount Panorama.

Witnesses said the director, whose company sponsors the Ford Rising Stars team, ran 15m to confront the 23-year-old Ford rookie before head-butting him.

The attacker was allegedly restrained by three men as he questioned Patrizi's driving ability. A shocked Patrizi, who finished the race in 17th place, last night confirmed the senseless attack.

"To be honest with you I am still in shock," he said.

"I have no idea of the reason why he did it.

"It is not the sort of thing you need after a race like that."

The incident comes as a major blow to V8 Supercars after another breathtaking Bathurst 1000.

The sport's governing body last night banned the Tex Onsite director from all V8 events until the end of 2009.

"V8 Supercars Australia has taken strong action against a team's minor sponsor following an incident soon after the conclusion of the Bathurst 1000 at Mount Panorama on Sunday evening," chairman Tony Cochrane said in a statement issued by the governing body.

"A director of a team sponsor engaged in conduct towards a V8 Supercar driver which V8 Supercars considers to be highly inappropriate.

"The V8 Supercars Championship Series has never had an incident of this kind in its history.

"V8 Supercars Australia will not tolerate this behavior from any person that attends a Championship event, including anybody that is linked to a Championship team.

"As a result V8 Supercars has invoked a ban on accreditation of that person until the end of the 2009 season."

Ford Rising Stars Team owner Jim Morton refused to comment when contacted last night.

It is believed he is in negotiations with Tex Onsite for future sponsorship of the team.

"I really have nothing to say about that," he said.

"It is being dealt with by V8 Supercars. It had nothing to do with us so I really don't want to say anything. I have only heard of it second hand, I did not witness it."

Patrizi told V8 officials he would make a complaint to police.

The rookie driver was promoted to the V8 Supercars series this year following a distinguished career in other motor racing categories.

The Perth-born driver has raced both touring cars and open wheelers in Asia, the UK and Europe.
