My god, another awesome race.

In 2006 & 2007 most of the WTCC races were dull, and this year they are very exciting.

Imola looks rather funny without grass, certainly not as aesthetically pleasing as before, though the modifications seem to be safer than they first looked.

Grass will grow, kerbs can be painted, what's important is the extra long straight drastically improved racing!

Even if F1 were to come back, which I doubt tbh, the races wouldn't be as bad as before. :)

the first corner isn't ideal though after that long straight. They should
1) straighten tamburello <1994
or
2) make it in a tighter corner

They should do to Tamburello what they did to 130R to give more room on the outside for run off and put a tyre wall or SAFER barrier on the outside. Ditto Villeneuve. Then it'll be a safe and awesome track, although at the expense of any chance of F1 coming back any time soon (but then it's incredibly, incredibly unlikely as it is right now anyway so that doesn't really matter)

They can't expand the runoff like they did at Villeneuve because there's a river immediately behind the wall.

Although they can put in the soft wall that's being used at Paul Ricard and Barcelona.

I know they can't push the wall back. That's why I said they should do what they did to 130R - pull the old corner line in slightly. Doesn't make much difference because the old corner was easy flat anyway and was probably a bit overrated

They could place tamburello hundret meters in front of the old corner and go back to the original track with a kink that needs no runoffs.

The problem is that when Imola was redesigned for 1995, the only concern was to stop people getting hurt and\or killed. Which is fine, but the chicane they put in at Tamburello is rubbish for racing, it's not tight enough. I'd still accept the chicane if they tightened that up a little bit and made it into a proper overtaking spot.
