lolyeah. Our local paper (i live near-ish Collard) is saying how Rob was hit by bad luck and got cruelly taken out. I argued with the paper  . They also say what a fantastic job he did reaching 9th when starting last. Forgetting that going from 17th to 9th is not bad, but also the fact that 3 cars DNF-ed, its only 8 place gain in a really good car and 3 of his opponents are driving what are effectively road cars (George; Johnson)

Matt Hamilton is confirmed for the last 2 events. Details and the livery are here:

Also, heres some more info on why Clyde Valley pulled out this year, although it hopes to be back next year. Seems it was sponser money that caused the team to go down to one car at Knockhill.

Agreed. Could almost be a works car with that livery.

Having just flicked through Autosport today, I have noticed that all the Triple 8 Vectras are up for sale. This is interesting as it means that Triple 8 have either firmed up their plans for next year, whether that be they are building a new car, have a works deal (Volvo, Kia etc etc.) or switching to a car already avaliable, for example a BMW (although this seems unlikely with all the new rules coming in), or are pulling out at the end of this year.

That is suprising, I'd think it's more likely they're pulling out or have a works deal of some sort. The Vectra is still competitive, it'd make more sense to continue developing the Vectra rather than building a new car or having to learn another car. Is it possible Triple 8 are building brand new Vectras for next year? How often do they usually build new cars?

I would safely say they arent building new Vectras for next year, mainly becuase I don't see the point. One becuase of the new rules coming in in a couple of years. Two, because with Vauxhall pulling out theres no markability for it. Three, its an old car now anyway. Finally, the rumours that are floating around are that Triple 8 have got their plans sorted for next season already and therefore selling the cars makes perfect sense.

Theres no chance they will be building new Vectras as its no longer in production (replacement is Vauxhall Insignia). Even with Vauxhall gone, they won't want an out of production car representing them.

Autosport this week reports that Giovanardi is close to signing a deal with Chevrolet to compete in the WTCC next year.

Yeah, I know he's mad and I don't care. I do not care. I did not care then. I do not care now. I'm here to race him.

In some other news, it looks like Gordon Shedden will be racing at Rockingham, as it seems a deal has been struck to race for the GR Asia squad.

I have to try and get to Rockingham to see this  :

NOW that's what is called power-packed!

Four touring car aces are going to help The Sun rock Rockingham with high-octane guitar-slashing, drum-bashing music.

They'll be jamming with our in-house rock band 10 Bananas at the Northamptonshire track's British Touring Car Championship meeting on September 20.

In a week that has seen a massive resurgence of Beatlemania, our Fab Four are Team RAC's Stephen Jelley, TeamSunshine.co.uk driver Paul O'Neill, ex-Formula One hero Johnny Herbert of Team Dynamics — and of course SunSport columnist Jason Plato, who pilots Racing Silverline's Sun-backed Chevrolet Lacetti.

Stephen will swap his steering wheel for a guitar. Paul — brother of Spice Girl Mel C — will smack the drums (and is threatening to sing).

Johnny will shake a tambourine and Jason will, er, shake another tambourine...

Our band will be playing in Rockingham's Welcome Centre throughout the big race day.

And they'll be joined by the drivers after the day's hectic track action.

It'll be a great chance for fans to get up close and personal with Britain's best touring car aces — and have a load of ear-splitting fun at the same time.

We'll have a couple of Sun Page 3 stunners there as well. Watch this space and we'll tell you who they are next week.

For details of the BTCC meeting and all other events at Rockingham, go to http://www.rockingham.co.uk — see you there!
