We've just had the second meeting of the series at Rockingham, but rather unusually for BTCC that was the first of back-to-back races, with the second of those taking place this weekend on the Brands Hatch GP layout in Kent:
Image

Fabrizio Giovanardi may have dominated at Thruxton, but he was absent for Rockingham, and so his championship lead quickly disappeared. Jason Plato now leads the standings after taking his first win of the season at The Rock, but the big winner of the last round was Matt Neal who clinched two victories and moved up to 2nd in the standings. Steven Kane and Paul O’Neill continued their impressive starts to the season by leaping Giovanardi to move into 3rd and 4th overall as the missing Italian dropped to 5th:

Code:
1.  Jason Plato           64
2.  Matt Neal             47
3.  Steven Kane           45
4.  Paul O'Neill          43
5.  Fabrizio Giovanardi   38

Only one race between the two BTCC races?

I'm guessing that also includes a bit of a lunch break on the track?

(I'm also guessing ITV will use that time to bring us g-rate feeder series Porsche Carerra cup which was about the only support that barely got a mention in the Rockingham thread...:p )

Looking forward to these races. They were amazing last year, so lets see if they can live up to them.

I believe everyone's back bar Gio and Glew of course. Should be a grid of about 22 cars or so.

I dunno, BTCC is great without rain and sometimes the wet stuff spreads them out more or we have an accident that wipes out half the field. Last time it rained at Brands? Was it 2007?

FP1 Results:

Chilton, Jordan, Nash, Pinkney, Neal, Shedden, Collard, Jackson, Onslow-Cole and MacDowall.

I don't know where to get full results but the VX's look quick

Yeah, I would guess that as well - showers have been predicted all day, but if Plato qualifies in 14th then we're gonna get a good race

According to btcc.net, Plato's oil warning light came on and Kane had steering problems in practice 1.
