Also this delay shows exactly why BTCC races are usually last

They aren't usually the last race in the schedule, it's just that ITV doesn't normally stay for the final race - I think they've only stayed on air because they love the Porsches.

Think the organisers try to avoid finishing the schedule with a BTCC race because it causes more traffic problems leaving the circuit - if the final race is a support, some people will leave after the last BTCC race.

Come to think of it, I think the last time I went the last race was a SEAT race. I thought both times I went to Thruxton the BTCC was last but it must have just been the first time

Not that it made a difference to the traffic. Still had to sit in a muddy car park for an hour waiting
