He's shown as a lap down in race three, are you sure he finished that one?

Found it:

Quote:
The first safety car was required when Martin Depper’s Forster Motorsport BMW speared straight on into the barriers at Cascades on the opening lap. The race would prove to be an expensive exercise for the Forster team as Arthur Forster also ended up in the barriers later on, although he was miraculously able to continue after driving round to the pit lane for patch-up repairs to his car!

So why is he penalised, but others haven't been?

Because he isn't a 'big name' in BTCC.

Then again we didn't see the incident so we don't know how blatant he was in taking Jordan out.

Jordan seemed quite angry at what happened, and it was an unusual place to end up

True, but TOC was pretty pissed about Plato, and we did see that one.

I just don't understand how these decisions are come to. It's almost like the most corrupt group of people in motorsport sit round a table and decide who the rules apply to. It wouldn't surprise if Flavio was the decision maker.

I thought TOC was quite relaxed about it. Neal seems to be driving relatively cleanly this year.

In other words, the BTCC is run by the FIA

It was more when they asked TOC about the move and he said "I wouldn't call it a move, it was just a crash".

Just seems that sometimes the rules are rubbing is racing, and other times rubbing is a DQ. I don't understand the process at all.

I think the outcome of the rubbing plays a big part - tapping someone out the way to pass them seems to be ok, but if they then crash, expect a penalty. Witness Collard vs Neal a couple of years ago at Brands - no penalty for Neal pushing Collard out the way at Clearways, but when Collard returned the favour at Paddock Hill, sending Neal into the barriers, Collard got a penalty.

It is still inconsistent though, Kane got penalised for tapping Plato at Paddock Hill last year, but I can't see a difference between that and Plato pushing TOC out the way at the hairpin.

I'm not sure if there's a solution - both DTM and V8 Supercars have gone too far with penalities, damaging the racing. I'd rather have inconsistencies allowing for some contact and better racing rather than that.

That was Jonathan Adam not Kane. Plato braked early too.

And of course there's Nash losing his win at Snetterton

They like taking good results away from the little guys. I'm surprised PON hasn't been banned yet for something inconsequential. Heaven forbid if Kane challenges for the title

Oh yeaa when Collard wrecked himself chopping across the front of his nose. Could have been because the result was two cars out of the race even though it wasn't Nash's fault.

Looks more like Jordans fault. The BMWs on the far right of the circuit.

Thanks for the link. I was sat on the main straight so had no idea what had happened until I got home and looked at the tv recording. Can't believe the cameras missed the actual incident.
