The BTCC leaves Oulton Park and heads further north to the Croft circuit near Darlington for rounds 13, 14 & 15 of the 2010 championship:

There were three fantastic races last time out in Cheshire, and it produced three different winners – Tom Onslow-Cole continued the strong performances of the Ford to win race 1, and the two men at the top of the standings Jason Plato and Matt Neal won races 2 and 3 respectively. Neal has now pulled out an eight point lead over his main title rival:

Code:
1.  Matt Neal             98
2.  Jason Plato           90
3.  Steven Kane           82
4.  Tom Onslow-Cole       76
5.  Mat Jackson           73
6.  Gordon Shedden        65
7.  Paul O'Neill          58
8.  Rob Collard           52
9.  Tom Chilton           51
10. Fabrizio Giovanardi   38
11. Alex MacDowall        32
12. Andrew Jordan         30
13. Tom Boardman          30
14. James Nash            25
15. Phil Glew              9
16. David Pinkney          9
17. Andy Neate             3
18. John George            2
19. Martin Johnson         2

22. Arthur Forster         0
23. Martin Depper          0
24. Shaun Hollamby         0

We have some driver changes for this round – Matt Hamilton has had to curtail his BTCC season early, but we have a new driver on the grid as Daniel Lloyd will be making his BTCC debut with 888 Racing.

Croft is generally very good for racing. I remember watching Jackson charging through the field a couple of years ago. Also been some huge crashes here over the years, particularly in the Super Touring years

It's a great little circuit. Good fun to drive whatever car you're in, from what I can tell

He'll be missing the rest of the season as well. The car's been sold to someone in Asia.

So we have Porsches before the last BTCC race?

Lame.

Anyway, Croft is one of my favourite rounds of the year for some reason.

I personally thin that ITV have to be applauded for the fact that they are shown all (if not most) the races live.

Shame bout Hamilton, but nice to see two Triple 8 Vectras out again.

Indeed. No matter how much we berate them sometimes, they do a fantastic job with the BTCC races + supports.

Really? Can't remember any big ones from the Super Touring years, anyone fancy putting up some youtube vids? There's been a fair few big ones in recent years, but other than 1st corner shunts I don't remember any large ones from the Super Touring era.

Is he doing any other racing this season? Shame if he's not, he was getting very good results given the age of the car. Guess he's another driver to add to the the talented but couldn't afford the BTCC list...

Off the top of my head, Tarquini and Thompson at the chicane in race 2 in 1997, Plato smashing into Tarquini due to a stuck throttle in 2000, and Radermecker flipping around the back of the circuit (which wasn't filmed) later that day

I also think Muller flipped a Vectra too at Croft.

Round the back of the circuit (Jim Clark Esses & Barcroft) definitely provides some spectacular edge-of-your-seat racing, it's a pity you can't get round there as a spectator and it isn't always covered well by the cameras so crashes are missed.

For gd49:

The two Hondas having near identical crashes in 1997 are @ 4:05 and 6:00 mins in this vid

and Plato's throttle getting stuck open is @ 1:10 in this vid

oh, and don't forget Chilton/ Vaulkhard last year

For some reason I feel Croft is the weakest Circuit on the BTCC calender (with the possible exception of Brands Indy but I think I merely got bored of that through overuse more than anything...) but it still always puts on great races.

Heck, its the BTCC they put on great races everywhere :)

Good on ITV for sticking around to show the Ginettas too. Well, I assume they will, they'll have a heck of the time filling until 6:35pm if they're just intending to show BTCC celebrations and reactions! :p
(Maybe some kind of BTCC Forum after the races?

Damn, I remember when the Clio Cup had 40 entires, not 14! It just isn't what it used to be :( At least the other grids are pretty healthy.
