This weekend sees the BTCC's annual trip north to Knockhill in Scotland for rounds 22, 23 and 24 of the championship at the only non-English venue on the calendar:
Image

Silverstone was all about the Team Aon Fords as they took three wins from three. Tom Onslow-Cole was ordered to move over and let teammate Chilton through to win thereby screwing his and the team's chances of winning the championship. Despite the best efforts of Daddy Chilton, Onslow-Cole won the third race of the day and closed the gap on Plato in the standings:
Code:
1.  Jason Plato          171
2.  Tom Onslow-Cole      157
3.  Matt Neal            148
4.  Gordon Shedden       138
5.  Tom Chilton          127
6.  Steven Kane          118
7.  Mat Jackson          112
8.  Paul O'Neill         104
9.  Rob Collard          101
10. Andrew Jordan         64
11. Alex MacDowall        47
12. Tom Boardman          43
13. James Nash            41
14. Fabrizio Giovanardi   38
15. David Pinkney         11
16. Phil Glew              9
17. Daniel Lloyd           7
18. Andy Neate             5
19. John George            2
20. Martin Johnson         2

22. Lea Wood               0
23. Arthur Forster         0
24. Martin Depper          0
25. Shaun Hollamby         0

Looks like we'll only be seeing a maximum of 18 cars for this round after Wood & Johnson have withdrawn. I'm not sure whether the second Special Tuning SEAT will be present either. :(

Not surprised at the low grid. We always get stiffed up here for grid size... better than the Richard Fucking West days though when he dumped the 'hill and would have made the series go to Brands 9 times a year with an "away" round to Silverstone. :p

Support grids will probably be a bit low too, but the weather looks like it'll be good so I guess that's something.

Looking forward to this, usually a good round even with the reduced grid.

Will be interesting to see how the Fords go here - if they're on the pace here that should finally settle the engine vs chassis argument.

Petrol must cost more than I think it does if teams can't afford to drive to Scotland. What is the budget of a BTCC team now days? £3.50 plus lunch money?

I guess that means one less Clio, then.

My greatest memory of Knockhill was after a huge shunt there were cars off everywhere and Tim Harvey said "It's like a touring car graveyard!" LOL

What's your source for that since I've not seen it elsewhere.

There's not a cloud in the sky here at Dunfermline at the moment.

I got to York and back on one tank of fuel, say £40, so I just fail to see exactly how much the costs would be so much these guys can't make it up here.

Taling of BTCC, I was reading a piece in todays newspaper instead of David Leslie where they seemed to be saying what had caused the crash, though the guy who wrote obviously didn;t have a massive knowledge of racing, naming Leslie as a 9-time BTCC Champion. (He won 9 races!)

Looking forward to Sunday even more now - my brother-in-law managed to blag some VIP passes through his work so it's free food and booze all day now which is nice. We also get to meet Jason Plato which is, um, a bonus?

Please, ask him some questions :p And direct him to the site, say we're big fans and we want him to read the threads
